in real news, Ned is through WP4 with no sign of Jonah yet. Let's hope it's a tracking issue for JS. (I can't imagine Ned leaving him behind, unless is was race ending).

SHIT!! Dakar.com reporting Jonah with a mechanical (and abandon..?)

Yes, Pal Anders' plan as far as I know is keeping a healthy speed and saving his equipment.
His time will come on the longer and more difficult stages, where, if his bikes holds up, he'll be taking advantage of his experience and physique. :evil

Just as a remark, I don't think Sam rides in service for Quin.

Yip the Fox sport guys at the Bivouac were saying it is 38 degrees there.

Here are some average speeds of the fastest guys from the start to each WP:

    WP 1 - 127km/hr - flat taps, pappie :super
    WP2 - 121km/hr - still flying along
    WP3 - 95km/hr - Lots of twisty sandy stuff.
    WP4 - 100km/hr - more full gas
    ASS - 95 km/hr - Dunes

Here is how it played out, a big battle between Despres & Coma

    WP1 - Depres 1st, Coma trailing 21"
    WP2 - Despres 1st, Coma reeling in to 9"off
    WP3 - Coma 1st, Despres trailing 18"
WP4 - Despres wins, Coma fighting 14" back
ASS- Coma wins, Despres lost 1'18" for one or other reason.

This is unbelieveably close considering it took place over 290km. :huh

Birchy is through WP4 15' off the leader
Curtis is through WP 23' behind.

The boys are learning all about Rally :deal

bugger, i said as best as i remembered.
    official count last year was
    12453 posts,
    831 pages.
we might be down slightly on the pace of last year.
but as with all good endurance events, you need to ramp in and go bull at a gate first day.
    we should still be ok.
