Hi and welcome. Thanks for filling in your profile location. :wave

Yeah, that's a little big. :eek1 I'm not sure how Imgur works but on Smugmug I just drag the corner of the window smaller. As I drag, the pic gets smaller (in steps, not gradually); then I right click and copy. That url will be the smaller pic.

If you hit 'enter' after the end of a sentence, the pic will be under the text:

instead of next to it like this.[IMG]

For imgur pic sizes, add a lower case L to the picture name. sPVO6twl.jpg

    or add a lower case S. sPVO6tws.jpg

That IS a pretty freaking cool pic. I'd love to see a frozen lake right about now, and take the DR for a spin in the spring snow with some knobs on it.

Spacecoast has had pretty much NO winter this year. I don't think we've even had one frost. I guess it's good for the FL citrus industry though. I'll just have to save up some vacation time to travel north next winter to play in some snow. The surfing this spring has had some pretty darn good days though, and the fishing has been good. We even have a few days when the water is blue and clear, like in the Bahamas.

I'm just about to order some highway handguards but I'm confused between the two sizes for the handlebar mounts that Paul has offered for the DR.

    So I have the:

100mm width template for the handlebars:

And there is also a 96mm width template. I put the above template (100mm) on and it seems right, but then I measure with callipers and get between 96mmish to 97mmish.

I'm going with 100mm, as the 96 mm template seems too short. However, can anyone confirm for certain??

    thanks heaps.

I got the 100x38/40mm Bolt Pattern and it worked fine. Getting the hand guards to meet the bolt holes on the ends of the bars not quite as simple...:huh. But they finally submitted to my gentle ministrations.:bash

Wow. for something that seems to bend as easily as the rear pedal, I would think it would be easier to find (and should cost a lot less than $50). Is someone able to tell me if this pedal - 43110-32E00 is the same as the 2012 pedal?

I know the bike is mostly unchanged, but I want to double check.

    Thanks.

The rear brake pedals are the same. Since it bends so easy just bend it back to shape and save your money. I have done that several times.

Thanks. I get a bit hyper and forget about the obvious.

I am working on putting the DR back together this morning and I am looking for a spec sheet that has the torque specs. I seen one on here before but I am not able to find it. Does someone have this info they can post or a link that will lead me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

    I found what I was looking for........:thumb

I was able to put around 200 miles on my new DR650 this weekend and had a great time doing so. I averaged 52 mpg over the weekend. This bike just might pay for itself being an alternative to driving my truck.

Two things I noticed. First, there seems to be hesitation on light throttle. Reading up on this it looks like it may be a lean condition due to the stock jetting. Is this something jetting the carb can take care of? I'm taking my time reading through the BST/carb threads.

Second, I'm going to need some luggage!

What do you all think is the average mileage (road miles) out of a DR650 clutch cable?

I've got a 2002, so between corrosion and miles (or use), I'm strongly thinking about ordering another to carry with the bike.

I zip tie a spare cable right alongside the one in service. If it snaps, it's an easy and quick fix.
