Damn good work. My map don't even show a road to Bells Island.
Got a history lesson looking for it too. Mr Bell survived a fight with Blackbeard. But lost all his valuables.
You guys must all be a bunch of federal employees on vacation.
I can't even get off on disability.

I am a general contractor impacted with the shutdown. We are six months into a one-year project and the plug was pulled. I needed to blow off some steam and a bike ride fit the bill. I managed a half a-iron-butt. 500 miles in 12 hours. I had a blast exploring East NC. I found a blimp hanger too. See my next post below.

Here is the blimp hanger. If you look closely you can determine the scale by looking at the containers in the foreground.

You know it is funny that you posted that picture at this time.

It was 3 years ago Oct 1st that they had a Blimp mid air crash at that site. Something about high winds causing it. It is still used today if my memory is correct. Only reason I remember the crash is I was working at the Fayetteville Airport crash station that day and one of the FAA guys was talking about it. Wierd

Ray, that is interesting. Yes, they are still using the hanger. I stopped at a neighbors house and he provided directions to see more of the facility. I have some other photos including the remains of hanger #2 that burnt to the ground in '95.

Less of an excuse than a baby-fueled honey do list but a hell of a lot closer than 250 miles.

Also satellite view of the tag location clearly shows that the adjacent field is for doughnuts. Awesome.
