best use of a beer/soda can

what is your best use of a soda can, this isnt my best but it is the only one i have pictures of

The trough turned down and went vertical, and the coins would fly out


So need to build a cover to guide the coins so I cut open a soda can

Caught a bunch of fish in a lake a few miles off the Oregon Coast. Nothing to cook with so cut open beer cans, punched holes in the end, and put stick through mouth opening and other side. laid fish in can with a little beer and cooked them like marsh mellows. YUM!!!
At the time I was with 4 friends that rode together to Oregon.
One stop on my 4 corners trip in 1970 on a 1967 Yamaha 350 2 stroke. Was 17.

made a check valve for my air compressor outa a pop can. lasted a couple years & was working when I sold it

My dad once made an alternate fuel supply for our '67 Ford pickup when the fuel pump failed at 9:00 at night on a lonely stretch of interstate.

He was a regular McGyver. He found a pop can in the ditch, then took a section of windshield washer hose, syphoned some gas from the tank, and then duct taped the can to the windshield and gravity fed fuel into a vent hole on top of the carb bowl. That got us a mile to an exit and gas station.

Then he bought some fuel line, a gas can, and a nipple that fit the carb inlet. Secured the gas can behind the cab above the carb level, started a syphon, and fed fuel to the carb for the last 50 miles home.

It is possible. I've seen that done with an apple too.

I've used soda cans for cooking, repairing a broken exhaust, repairing a leaking radiator hose. The best use of a beer can is to hold my beer Just sayin'

Cut open cans were my go to material when I was younger for exhaust pipe and muffler repairs. That, and a few hose clamps, and you were socially acceptable noise wise again.

Once, I cut the top off a soda can and poured bacon fat into it.

Hundred yrs ago, way south, a guy packed stainless steel pads inside the older pop top cans, then jammed it over the muzzle of a long barrel & got dinner for 3, 4 times. Hard times they were.

To block mouse hole, cut can to fit, layer with Durham rick hard putty, fill hole. They have to chew a new one beside, so after you are sure they are not able to get it, put out plenty of mouse bait.

Use as backer for body putty.

making custom cold air intake for race car, glue with crazy glue and form to desired shape, then coat the fiberglass cloth and resin, Finish with body putty, sand and paint, looks very good if you are careful

My '72 VW had a distributor advance plate that was held steady by a spring pushing down on a single ball bearing (I swear this was the factory design). The spring broke, the vacuum advance made the plate wobble, and the dwell and timing turned bizarre. I made several springs out of steel and aluminum cans.

me and my dad did that once but we took it out when the rebuild kit got there a few days later

I took a can filled it with water and poked a hole it, sat it on top of the car so that it was leaking down the door jamb (it was a very cold night). Not only did it freeze the door shut but the Dick head that owned the car claimed that it bent the door<o></o>

There are 2 main uses for an empty "beer" can.

#1 = Shim. They are very thin (.0035" typically), and don't rust.
#2 = Fill it with water and shoot it. More fun than enough.

Heck on college on a -20 night we went over to a rival frats parking lot (They started it) after they all passed out and set up a sprinkler. Bout 2 hours later, several cars had well over an inch of ice on them. Remove sprinkler, drain hose, stow in basement again. Hard part was getting the last 20 feet of ice encrusted hose out of the parking lot without making noise., and getting it rolled up quickly and stowed back in the basement.
