In an episode on Top Gear (video here) they joke to each other about getting bitten by a Puff Adder. And to further a long standing joke they write slogans on their cars. One of them is "All adders are puffs" which is a play on words as "puff" is British slang for a homosexual.

It's a great show. You should check it out.

You guys in the valley that I listed interested in this weekend right?
To make it sort of a fair distance for everyone out in BFE to travel let's try Griffin Tavern in Flint Hill at high noon.:gun1 Does that sound good? Any suggestions...let me hear them!

As far as the main event(?) lets shoot for March 5th(unless it's cold as ---- or snowing) at a place still to be determined. Sound good?

I'm also thinking of having one say in Marshall the one this weekend...Strasburg, one south in the valley, Harisonburg or further south(?) and one around Charlottesville

I was thinking about a Saturday lunch at the Griffin Tavern in Flint Hill.

I'd leave the I-66 Visitor's Center (the rest area) near Manassas at 1000, go through Hume and Fort Valley, then over Fodderstack to Flint Hill. :1drink

However, if everyone else wants to be in Stasburg at 0930, I might just get up early and slab it.

OK that sounds good. Griffin Tavern at 11:30 it is!

I changed the location in post #46 and the time in this post folks. That way it would be warmer for folks like me with no electrics.

I want some input for other good restaurants for future meets. I think I'll try and find one of Freaks posts. He has a good eats link in his sig line...
Also lets just make a plan on doing this somewhere once a month, say like the first Saturday of the month with the second Saturday being a rain date??? It doesn't have to be set in stone.
If you can make it fine, if not that's cool too. There will always be another next month!

Sounds good. Even if each person could only make one-in-three, it would still be a good turn-out.

Depending on the roads, it might take a bit more than 2 hours to ride the Ft. Valley loop--just hafta see. I've never timed it before . . . . :lol3

If you are going right by Hume on the way out start a little later and meet in Flint hill at 11:30?

    http://www.griffintavern.com/

That's what time they open. Then do a long loop after lunch. I know some interesting country gravel and paved roads in the area.:evil
You can ride from Luray to Front Royal only using 340 for a little over three miles.:deal
Fort Valley is always a good ride too with some cool side roads!:evil

OK, that could be a plan. My usual route is Hume to 522 to Front Royal, the back way then to Ft. Valley, either gravel or pave to Luray, have fun in the twisties to Sperryville, then Fodderstack out of Washington to Flint Hill. I usually go near Orlean on my way back home, depending on which road I haven't been on recently.

No reason not to reverse, or do something different. I haven't decided whether to bring the RT (new to me, fun, but needs lowered pegs for my old knees) or the GS (always good--and the pegs are already lowered). There's a road in Fort Valley I haven't explored and the concensus is that it's not paved.

If anyone is riding in on their KLR 650, please list the year, mileage and general condition. I am in need of some parts.

    Thank you.

I don't think they allow KLR's at the Griffins. :deal

    :hide

They probably don't allow XR's either...

Probably not for this Sat. At least not me. Some of the locals are getting together for dinner and then invading Jeff Munn's shop Sat night.
