Did you have the Touratech and BMW powder coating stripped then re-powder coated?

After seeing your pics, I am convinced I want to get mine painted black along with the aluminum BMW skid plate. I am contemplating just sanding the surface enough to rough it up and then spray paint it black. Not sure what the best way to go.

    Thanks!

I like that! Bike is looking good...

I ended up going with the TT as well. It was a hard decision between them and Holan.

The TouraTech bars are stainless. They powdercoated up real nice and it was relatively cheap. I am pleased with how it has come out with all I've put on it. I like the subtle-looking protection measures. BDCW protection is subtle-except for the mongo bash plate that will surely take a beating.

I also put a full Arrow system on it with Swain Tech ceramic coating (vs Jet Hot)

Has anyone tried mounting the TT upper to an ALTRIDER lower?
From what I can tell both front crossbars look to be at the same height !!
I'd be first in line for those uppers if they matched my ALTRIDER crash guard.:clapo

I have the BMW crash bars on my 2013 F8 and i reckon they work like a charm. Solid and dont look to shabby if i must say myself. I guess you should just look aorund at different styles and see what suits you best.

I plan on giving the bars a test a good ruff around this weekend and il let you know if i encounter any major problemo's

Be careful. You'll find the rad cover contacting the ground with that bar.

I had the Touratech stainless crash bars stripped and powder coated. I really like the look better this way. Decided to leave the skid plate aluminum though.

Me too! I spoke with them the other day and they said while they have not heard anything (yet) about the upper guard being available or in production they assured me that they will be in the works shortly as they predict a lot of sales of the 2014 f800GSA.

I have read that you have to watch the weld quality on the TT engine guards....I don't mind forking over the $$$ but quality needs to be top shelf, clean, and professional looking. Time will tell...

MKorn....exactly, I am sure they will hold up fine, but it would be nice if TT would clean up those welds and make em Perdy...."Hans" the robot must have had the shakes...lol!

Can anyone tell me the clearance one has on the left hand side of the bike with these TT uppers? I just put them on my bike and am a little pissed of the clearance on the lower left hand side. It seems to me that the bars come within 1/3" away from the LOWER left piece of plastic however on the right, they have ample space. They don't look as if they are mounded improper - could the bike have some funny unproportioned plastic bits down there?

The bars have lots of room in the upper region - just not towards the lower area of the upper bars - if you know what I mean.

    P.S.

I have to say, anyone looking at getting these, do yourself a favour - buy new nuts and bolts - I think I was using every swearword in the book while dremeling the damn things off. They stripped half way through while tightening everything down - my god.

    Any input would be wonderful!

    thanks.

You either have bent crash bars or have them installed incorrectly. I just put the TT uppers on Dirtgrllls 2013 800gs and they fit perfectly (after a little wiggling) and have a uniform distance away from the plastic from top to bottom and on both sides. The welds were also OK, not the row of dimes I'd like to see but more than satisfactory. No matter what hardware comes with an accessory I always replace them with SS.

I just wish TT hurries up with Upper Crash bars for the 2014 800 Adventure

I am wondering if they are bent - I can't for the life of me get them straight. Perhaps I can loosen everything up again and tighten back down. It's almost the bar is too short - not really bent.

So, for the record, the bike isn't awkward in size? The bike looks like it has a larger black piece under the left fairing.

    Thanks.
