This result should be restated as "average rider rides his GS 5663 miles per year".

My GS mileage is right in line with that figure but I own two BMW's and my R1100S gets ridden more often, just not as far as the GS usually.

I'm sure there are many of us with three or more bikes..and they all have to be taken out once in a while. :lol3

Because the poll is skewed: no accounting for high-mileage bikes.
The maximum shown in chioces is 50k miles.

How do I fill in the mileage for my 2006 GS? It's a bit over 61,000 mi...

I think you need to scroll your screen to the right when you're looking at the survey. There are areas for more than 50k miles.

While the survey was limited to 60,000 and Over...I have made an adjustment as to how many miles are used in calculating the weighted average.

In other words for YEARs with HIGH number of riders in the 60+ category an adjustment is made:
2005 gets a weighting of 85,000 for the 60+ category
2006 gets a weighting of 75,000 for the 60+ category

Obviously, if I had to do the survey again...I'd have included mileage categories maybe up to 125,000.
But the above approach attempts to resolve this shortfall.

And...I guess that explains why I never went into market research.:rofl
    Happy Holidays to all.

Ooops - sorry. When I looked at the survey, I did not notice that I have seen only a section of the page. The cutoff was so neatly within the column that it appeared to be the border of the page.

I went back and put in my $0.02 in the survey.

Fascinating Laurel Perry. This helps me place my bikes mileage and gives some rough estimate of what constitutes a low mileage used bike. It does make me wonder If the riders on this forum are representative of the whole population of GS owners. My sense is that the forum folk are slightly more 'et up with their bikes than the average owner.

I would imagine there are some wealthy individuals that accumulate expensive toys and don't really invest themselves in the activities of actually riding their motorcycles. I see this with some owners of Millwaukee made motorcycles. The bikes get ridden a dozen times per year and although the owners are very proud of owning them, they are mostly functional artwork.

Dont you suspect there are many pristine, low mileage GS bikes stashed around the country? I have no problem with this behavior either. The garage queens may shake loose when the water cooled bikes appear and I only buy used so this makes me happy.

One rider has a 2012 with 30-40K, wow. :clap

I wonder if they commute or bought in '11. When I got mine in Feb, it was the only one on the floor and only one of a handful they had gotten. A competitor had no '12's and only one '11 left.

I rode my 05 for the first time since October and rolled to 80686 miles. I spooned on a new front tire and was going to replace rear pads, but they look like they'll live through my first trip in April :1drink

...did you know that you can embed an Excel chart right into ADV? You've already done the hard part - upload the spreadsheet to Skydrive. Then just click the embed link from the right hand side, configure the settings to just get the chart, copy the code, use the ADV advanced editor to paste in, bingo!

Here are the step-by-step instructions if you need more info:
    http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ex...102602477.aspx

I would do it for you, but I'm not the owner of the spreadsheet, so no embed entry point for the sharing public. Here's an example chart from a trip planning spreadsheet used on another thread...
