91 R100GS PD. Owned since 94 and my first BMW. Almost sold it in a moment of weakness, but gathered my wits. Has dual-plugs, higher compression, 40mm bings. Will be doing a fork and brake upgrade in the near future. Darin

Yeah, it's the Canadian version with the 40mm carbs and the kickstarter. I'm told these are the same as the Euro spec ones and the valves may be a tad bigger and the cam a tad hotter. Don't know if this is true or not. And I don't care 'cause yer right - it is one of the coolest bikes out there. Speaking of cool bikes, you have an Africa Twin, as well? So you have two of the coolest bikes out there. How did you ever get that one into Canada?

It was already here due to the misfortune of the previous owner who had an accident. He was able to walk away but was unable to take his bike because of the damage. My salvage investment paid off. I now have 2 similiar bikes in many ways. However, its hard to beat the smoothness of the GS's shaft drive. wayne
So which one do you like best and if you can't decide, at least tell me more about the AT. I've had a crush on that bike for years. (Yeah, I know - I need to get out more).
As the thread implies I'm a committed GS rider. The GSPD was my dream bike for 10 years before i was finally able to get one...and while the AT was a gift from above... given the choice, one bike, it would be the GS. Having said that the GS collected dust last summer while the AT was definetily my choice of weapon. The AT with its Wilburs after market shock you sit very high in the saddle..cool..hard to bottom out in the backroads. Took me awhile to get used to the buzz of the chain but it will cruise comfortably all day on the slab with loaded Zega cases and camping gear. Would not be great for 2 up where as the GS is ok. HP and tire sizes are evenly matched. Fuel range is bit better on the GS with the AT not far behind. They are both great bikes and would be very hard to part with either. Wayne
Wayne, if I'm ever out your way, you have to at least let me sit on the AT. Not sure I'd want to do more than that, though, 'cause you may have the only one in Canada. Brought the new-to-me GSPD home today. Even though it's freezing here, I sat out in the garage for about an hour just checking it out. What a cool bike. It's really surprising that more people never really caught on to the whole "Adventure Touring" bike thing. Comfort, range, utility/go-anywhere-ability, plus they are way cool. I guess there has been more of a following in Europe, but obviously not enough because Honda discontinued the AT. Well, I'm not in Marketing, so I don't know much about "Target Markets" and "Focus Groups". I just know what I like and I'm pretty happy it's out there in my garage.

MoMan, nice GS. I always like that colour scheme. I like your chopped windshield too. Does it still offer any kind of wind protection or is it primarily for its' Hooliganish good looks?
A little of both...no matter how I adjusted the windshield, the wind either hit me in the face or the neck which both made for a lot of wind noise and buffeting. I used Mr. Dremel to cut it down and spray painted the inside black. My head is now in a clean air stream. I also mount my GPS & XM antennas to the windshield.
Count me in! I had a '90GSPD, '95 GSPDC, and a '98 GS1100 75th anniversary, sold the '90 and '98. The '95 is the best between the three imho. I did like the red and white colors of the others though. Wonderful, comfortable bike. I hope I don't lose my mind and sell it.
The truck was busted (until about an hour ago), Gaspipe wife's car is FUBAR and she's using the spare clunker. So I've been riding everyday for a few weeks while waiting on parts for the cars to come in. It's rained almost every damned day. WTF? I put new rubber on it a few nights ago. I still love this bike.
