Personally, I like to ride in flip-flops. The thrill of hanging your toes out to catch some wind & blow the stink off of 'em just can't be beat.... But on those rare occasions when boots are a must, I prefer to ride with Moon Boots. You know, like Mom would stick on your feet, along with 14 layers of snowsuit and then send you off to elementary school back in the 70's?? They're not really waterproof, and they don't really provide any protection but they're lightweight and they look really cool! :lol3

Well, on 2nd thought, that probably woulda been the 90's for you. :huh

You might have luck with the Icon Patrol. Not a high boot but is waterproof. We have trouble with large calves constantly and these have been a pretty good solution.

Alright folks. I've done A LOT of research and judging by my feet size I've narrowed it down to sidi adventure gortex or alpinestar toucan gtx. Nathan do you have these in stock I can come try on?

I no longer stock the Adventure Gore-Tex because for most people at half the price the Scout is the way to go so that's what I stock. I can definetly get a size or two in for you to try out though. As far as the Toucan goes, I was pretty unimpressed with the boot at it's price point so I never brought them in. There again I can get them in if you want to give them a shot.

Are the scouts durable than a regular road boot. That's what they kind of look like via pictures.

I picked up a set of A* Scouts from Nathan last year. They are studier than my road boots but a far cry from mx boots as far as ankle support goes.

They have decent tread (I wish it was deeper) and they are comfortable for walking around. My feet stay dry in driving rain, but I have not submersion tested them.

I didn't get more offroad oriented boots because the toe thickness was such that I would have had to raise my shifter on the KTM and honestly, I do 99% of my riding on pavement (you know, where the Starbucks are.)

If you are going to use them for harder off road riding, I would probably get something else. Nathan had some other boots between the Scouts and mx boots.

For what its worth I wear an old pair of Garne trials boots a lot of the time when not wearing my Sidi Crossfires. Trials boots more comfortable Sidi's max protection. Oh yeah trials boots are the brown oiled ones so for no more water than we get in seem to work good.

I have a pair of Balance's as well and they are waterproof, comfortable, and offer decent protection. They are no Crossfire for protection by any means but they are well above any street style boot and much better than a work or hiking boot. I can go out, run errands, and walk around without squeaking like a rusty door hinge too.

You don't need sandels or any gear really with the guardian bell. Most bars require shirt and shoes though.
