Heading up to Meadospws of Dan area and looking for some trails to ride. Any good spots for forest service roads, single track and such? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Actually, I've been following this hoping to see something. I went there last spring to pick up my youngest's first bike. Craigslist find. Looks like a great place to ride. I'll have to find out myself later in the month. I'll let you what I find.
Meadows of Dan is surrounded by private property - not USFS or the like - and the topography is relatively flat compared to other parts of Virginia. The MTRNRA is the best bet for riding - although its about 90 minutes away. The only legal USFS motorized single track in VA is found there. In fall there is a ton open.
I can't help you with the off road stuff but if you ride street at all you will have loads of great roads to choose from.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions. I have two new guys on DRZ 400s who are wanting some dual sport rides ... Doesn't look good. Thanks
1+ on WillVille great place to camp. If you are up at the right time try to hit the Mountain Man 400 I am sure you have a blast. AB
I'd like to tag along if you do find trails by meadows of the Dan, there are some up there, it's just knowing where they are.
^^^ This. There are some gravel roads that I have noticed crossing the BRP near MOD and I know the Twin Valley Riders have a route sheet for a gravel ride at the Twin Valley Rally. I don't know of any singletrack though.
These are long and fun dual sport trails. Well, long for the area anyway - lots of nice secondary and even gravel roads but this as "dirt" as I could find. Road on my 650. Would do it (slower) on my GS.
