It's county Fair time in New England. Lava Report

Any of you from New England know this time of year is Fair time. From the small town fair to the county fair to the Big E ( Eastern States Exposition).

I personally really enjoy the smaller fairs. I know some of the people, the food is home cooked and some of the contest are for nothing more than bragging rights.

I'm hoping to get to more of these on Lava and post up some other reports.

The Littleville Fair​

The big contest of the day was the ox pull.


The crowd in the grandstands for the ox pulling.

Those blocks are 1200lbs, the first 2, the others are 1000lbs.

After looking at al the livestock I was getting hungry.

Everything was home made. I know some of the ladies running the kitchen and they were cooking all week to get ready.


"Yes dear what would you like? Ok I'll get that for you. Peppers and onions and cheese ok? Something to drink? OK hun that will be $6. Thanks love have a great day"


Yep, homemade sausage with peppers onions and cheese.


Lava was the only bike there.



I wonder how she would do pulling 8000 lbs:huh





After I left I was headed to Heath for the Yankee Beemers Rally just for the day.

I found some nice dirt roads.






Ha they only have one horse power



Always have to stop to smell the flowers.




More fairs this weekend

Nice! I get excited when this time of year approaches. Cummington Fair this weekend, Vermont State Fair on 9/3, Franklin County Fair starts 9/9, Big E starts 9/17, Peru, VT on 9/25, lots to do this fall.

Don't forget the Blandford Fair! Usually Labor Day weekend.

good for you, that looked like a nice day. i wish i had time you run up to one of those small town/coutry fairs. a perfect day trip ride, i should find time to do that. did you just come across that on your ride? or was it a planned to visted/

The autumn season is when I miss New England the most, so thanks a heap for giving me more reasons to miss it....jerk. l

I'm going to Cummington Sunday. At the Tomato Festival today. Lots to do

I planed to go to the fair the continue to the Yankee Beemers rally.

The Tomato Festival was today in Granby MA. What a beautiful day. Sunny and warm.

They knew Lava was coming so they set aside reserve parking just for us.



Again the only motorbike there.

Cool report! The Blue Hill, Maine Fair is this coming weekend. Will you be there?

That is the problem with this time of year there is so much to do. I won't be at the one in Maine.

This weekend there is the Vermont State Fair in Rutland, Southern Vt Garlic Festival in Bennington

Bennington Irish Music Festival

Then in MA there is:
Spencer, Blandford and the 3 County Fair in Northampton.

I am leaning towards the Garlic and Irish in Bennington.

The Woodstock Connecticut Fair is a great compromise between local and big

It is held EVERY Labor day weekend.

Attractions from actual calf birthing , pavement gocarts, big midway

tractors and horses and oxen

If you can't get to Minnesota than this is the one

Cummington Fair has a good mix of new and old. It has the 4H animal events, the firemen muster, draw horse pulling a midway thats not over done, lumberjack events.

Lumberjack events are very entertaining to watch.


It's amazing how fast they can cut through the wood.

I remember doing this as a kid

Fair food is always amazing. Everything fried in oil that is probably months old. full of flavor.

Mini Donuts are my favorite.



You get a whole bag of them with sugar and cinnamon. Nothing better

There are several different venders, the Carnies, and then there are the groups that will benefit from your purchase. I like to support the local causes.






mmmmmm bacon cheese burger with fresh squeezed lemonade and fresh cut fries.

There was a small Midway there. I don't know about some of those rides, they are looking kind of old.

The Draw Horses were cool. There were pulling 12,000 lbs:eek1



One of the best spectator events is the Fireman Muster.


Different teams compete in several events.
