Power Controller - F800gs / F650gs Snatchy Throttle Fix

Put mine in yesterday morning & went for a 400 mi ride. Much easier to feather throttle when pulling out. Worth every penny! Really didn't need to remove sensor, just disconnect plug from it & install new controller plug.

HTCA the product is as described, with a simple 5 minute install I was up and running. The throttle response was linear and no where near as snatchy as the stock response. The lean backfire has been reduced drastically when you roll off the throttle, meaning better fuel ratio's. Didn't get a long ride in but what I did the improvement is very noticeable.

The one thing I did since the connectors are not water packs, I broke out the dielectric grease. This comes from my VW days, I learned the hard way a little water can do a lot of damage to the pins.

My only problem is where to put to sticker, I need a second to balance the aesthetics of the bike.

The problem is the EPA. Emissions .... The way BMW gets our bike to pass emissions standards to tune the bikes to run very lean.

The fix is to give the bike more fuel....
How to do this?
Change the air box temperature signal to the computer. Decrease the ambient air temperature by 35 - 36 degrees F... and your bike has a smoother throttle!!!! (only 16 deg F needed for the really hot days)

This gives the bike more fuel when the throttle is changing..... at a steady throttle state the computer uses the O2 sensor to control fuel amounts...

The to do this is to add a thermistor and add resistors to give the ECU (engine control module) an "adjusted" temperature reading.

After hooking up the unit a week ago, I finally put some miles on the bike (in pouring rain) and in the high 70's (switch on blue for below 85 degrees). If anyone else is like me, at certain speeds and turns you would be anticipating the bucking thats about to kick in. Well now, out of habbit you will still be aniticipating the bucking....make the slow turn in traffic....go through the gears....then realize there was no bucking.

I've been running the Akra can from day one. I don't know what this device does to the A/F ratio, and I don't really care because now my bike runs smooth.

So, has anyone running a booster plug tried this one as well?

Hey Ritchie, your controller works like a charm, I've noticed a big difference in the throttle and the bike seems to run better. I originally thought it was going to be a hassle mounting the toggle under the seat to switch it back and forth, but not an issue. I just have to lift the seat a couple of inches to switch it. I haven't checked the fuel mileage yet, so I can't report if it helps or not. We finally started cooling down here in South Central Washington, but we were having 100 degree highs with low's in the 50's. Going over the Cascades to Seattle tomorrow, so will see how she does.... So far so good and loving it. Thanks for making it available.

This may be a dumb question, but I assume the power controller will work on the F650GS (twin) as well?

This. I have a booster plug but temperatures routinely get over 85* here so it sounds like it would be a good idea for my bike.

Will this work with the F658GS?

F658gs ? Yes indeed! It works for the 650 twin and the 650 single.
