Is the swingarm - wheel on the other side because it's in a right hand drive country? :rofl

Joke aside, you have read the arguments about why this changed haven't you?
Else, I can repeat (I am here to serve you ...or whatever hahaha).

If we got 250 ADVriders to contribute $100 that would be $25,000. We could buy the new BMW together and schedule to keep it on the road or dirt 24 hours a day 7 days a week and be the first to put 300,000 miles on it, see what breaks!!!!

We should do it with every new model.

I haven't. I thought it was, one, so the bike looks better on the sidestand (by showing the wheel, instead of the FD), and two, so they can screw the aftermarket companies and sell more OEM accessories (side cases, slip-ons, etc.).

Ok what I have "collected" from various sources...

    1) It looks better when on sidestand. (BMW comment)

    2) It is now inline with other modern BMW (K1300/K1600). (my comment, possibly simplifies manufacturing lines)

    3) Actually the oposite of what you say. Indeed you can more easily find 3rd party exhausts as the exhaust is not in the "proper" side as most bikes. (my comment) BMW specialized companies already adapted so this is a non-issue.

    4) You won't burn when moving the bike. (so true!) (BMW comment)

    5) Helps really differentiating this model with previous gen and they wanted that. (my comment)

A question for new GS owners (that have had a previous gen too): Does the final drive make its presence known when you engage? I mean in my GS when I put in 1st gear and let go of the clutch, the final drive has some (little but enough to feel) dead space until the cogs move. Is this still there?

I'll give you another. I strongly prefer to have my must frequently used box on the same side that I mount the bike. That box should also be the largest box. One the old generation, the smaller box is on the left side and that drives me nuts. I load a laptop computer every day and since I mount it from the left, I have to cross behind the bike to load it up. It is a small annoyance that is gone by moving the exhaust to the right.

So we have a win-win choice here.

personally I don't like the look of the fork guards(?) or the size of the exhaust can (will it be covered up by bags?)
