I hadn't seen that before. thanks. Sadly I will only have 1 or maybe 2 more trips to Israel. I wanted to do some riding there, but never was able to secure a bike, and preferably someone to ride with. When I'm there, I only have one day, so it's hard to get it all in.

I attach a link to an article (in Hebrew) that appeared on a popular Israeli motorcycle website named fullgaz.
It lists all current available options for scooter/ bike rental in Israel (dated to beginning of February 2010):
http://www.fullgaz.co.il/xpages/article.php?i=47385

I've attached it although it is in Hebrew, as in most cases a question about that topic will be answered by an Israeli forum member, so this information might come in handy.

Cheers and ride safe,

Keyboard, thanks for that info. I'll be in Yerushalayim all of July. Figured I'd do without a ride for a month, but this gives me something to think about.

If there is a KTM dealer there I would assume there is some offroad riding available. Curious as I have been offered a job in T-A for 1 year and being a dirt bike junkie would need my regular fix.

The guy that runs for him the show also has a blog:
http://kruvi.net/
His name is Tomer Baram and (copied from his blog) that’s his email address:
kruvi1200 AT yahoo DOT com

Try to contact him. He can inform you better than I can about all the ins and outs of the legalities.

A Hebrew written forum exists as well:
http://www.tapuz.co.il/Forums2008/ForumPage.aspx?ForumId=363&r=1

And there are some other, private forums dedicated to that issue.

There exists an off-road scene in Israel, however it is ILLEGAL to own a true motocross bike. You can only own registered bikes (i.e. your bike has to have all the “legal” accessories, and a license plate). Stupid as it sounds, that’s the situation.

Good luck,

Or you could try PMing him here.

:D

About the registered, roadworthy bike thing - yes, it is true, but the indicators, horn, lights and so on only have to be on when the bike is having its yearly check, once you are out of the shop so long as you trailer it to your ride you can keep it as you like.

Israel has its down sides, no doubt about it. Nevertheless, it is an offroader paradise! Unlike Europe and parts of the US, most of the land is public and open for bikes and 4X4s.
