The winner of Balkan Rally Raid Cup 2012 & Africa Eco Race joins Hellas Rally Raid 2013

Martin Fontyn after his consistent presence to Balkan Rally Raid Cup 2012 which led to his victory in overall classification, won the Africa Eco Race riding to Lac De Rose for his first time.
The owner of EAO after some great performances in Rally Albania and Balkan Marathon continued his success story in Africa, winning the, so many call it, real Dakar Race.
Now Martin and his Team will open 2013 racing season in Hellas Rally Raid 2013 against high level competitors from all over Europe.
We would like to thank him for his trust and his co-operation.

We are really looking forward to this rally now! We were down this November to race the 24h Rally Raid Athens with the same orga and the whole rally was incredibly good and a few hours after making it to the finish we wanted to come back (eventhough we were a "bit" tired)! Very safe rallying (is there such a thing??) with incredible riding.

Can't wait to get to Nafpaktos now and catch up with my greek friends!!

I think the tracks this year are going to be amazing, I have a country home near to where the race will take place and used to do all sorts of exploring on my old SC620 back in the day, I hope it will be a great race. Kom svenskarna!

Could we have more info on Paddock?

Is possible to camping into the paddock? Are available: toilet, showers, electricity...into the paddock?
I prefer to stay into the paddock, but in case this is not possible:
is there any camping close to the paddock?

Close to bivouac you have some place for camping, toilets and showers.
No wi-fi but lots of cafes and restaurants have plenty of it in walking distance.
No organized camping close to the race.
Hotels though are cheap, 3 stars and up and prices starting from 40 euros per double with breakfast (which you will need )

There seems some confusion over what licence and or start permission we in the uk need for this event, I spoke to the ACU the governing body of 2 wheeled motorsport in the uk and they said they had had a number of enquries about the Hellas rally and had looked at the regs for the event but still unsure if we need an international licence or not, if we do that means extra cost and a medical

Last question I have is about the GPS equipment for roadbook riders:
I see is mandatory to have one available for safety reason.
Would be possible to use a Garmin V for this purpose only?

Is there any news about the minibuses from the airport on the 19th? We also need to get back to the airport on the 27th, is there a plan to have minibuses for that day?

Also what are your approved GPS units? Or are we using units provided by you?

we provide GPS trackers for real time tracking, your GPS is required only for your safety reasons.
You can use any type of GPS device that could drive you to a village or a safe place in case everything goes wrong.
Only in the case of adventure raid participants there are specifications for the GPS devices.

So a GPS is mandatory?

hope not, carrying enough "safety" trinkets as it is...

I hope not either. Got enough going on on the bike without a gps as well to add.

In all fairness they didn't really check stuff like that last year, maybe at scrutineering (the obligatory flares, survival blanket etc) but not too much afterwards...

I think the GPS is for your own safety - in case you want to abandon a stage and find the nearest way back to the bivouac

GPS, for roadbook riders is listed into the safety equipment requiered.
I got the Garmin V, I will put it the my backpack.
I will not install on the bike.
