From what I have heard the Showa TCs are lighter, and you don't need a brace. I know the wheel is lighter, plus the CRF axle and spacers are aluminum.

the sprocket is important too because its rotational weight and that effects acceleration.

    thanks guys!

Im assuming they are similar in weight yet come on the conventional weigh a ton!!!!!!!! well see

I had the rsw brace and stock xr wheel with and excel black rim.

Oversize stainless spokes though string again weigh more than stock.

I also gained a bit going oversize and excel on the rear of my xr600...unfortunately I dont know how much I gained...

what I do know is my wheels are stronger! and at least the weight is down low...but rotational mass once again.

Also going to usds you have less unladden weight going up and down...right?

    well

again Im eager to see the numbers...

I wish I could help. I have a ton of old crappy stuff and new stuff still to put on or weighable...at least...

I changed my frint fender to a crf fender and did the vent mods...

    maybe shaved some there...

but I gained putting on some cycra pro bars, and risers...

lost a bit though going to aluminum fatbars. jajaja

it GOES BOTH ways as we all can see now!:D

    I eagerly await!

    are they crf250 or 450?

    mine will be 2003 cr250r...

    thanks again

p.s happen to know the difference in weight between an xrl/xr600 front wheel(with spacers and axle) compared to a crfx?

The xrl rim BTW is thicker than the xr600 for those that wanted to know.

I did not know however that the crf axle and spacer were aluminum! thats a siginificant chunk to save there...

    cheers

    I do have this ,

This is an OEM XRL front hoop

and here is the Takasago hoop , same size .

I'm wondering if the OEM would be stronger , the edge is quite a bit thicker .

    interesting!

I was under the impression that excels were actually heavier than stock.

hmm I need to weigh my stock xr600 rim(should be lighter than the xrl, the xrl is stronger than the xr...its designed to hold a passenger, and is thicker...also has less holes! jajaja)

wish I had a good scale like you have

Lets not forget an add-on that almost all of us do ,

a set of Cycra Guards , seems like alot of weight to be adding at the highest point on the machine ,

but they are fuctional, and good looking to boot. :deal

Get yourself almost 5 oz with the difference between the OEM front hub w/bearings compared to a Talon hub w/bearings

    Bunch of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ for 5 oz, :eek1

I would think that Excel wheels would be within an ounce of each other for same application ,

meaning a 21 x 1.6 Takasago , or the A60 , or whichever other model they make in that size would be so close , 32 hole , 36 hole , diff or shavings for 4 holes .

Thats just me thinking , I could be completely wrong .

To weigh them. I have a CRF front end on it now, but I have another set of forks for my XR250R. Same goes for the BRP lower and the Emig stem. The Acerbis has not yet been put on, and the rim is an extra.

My USDs weigh more than the stockers... I weighed them both. Dont use weight loss as a motive to swap forks...
