Baja Adventure Riders

Last time I rode a bike in baja was in 2009. have not been able to return because of issues with my passport. I have an appointment with home land security Feb to try to fix the problem.

Hey Todd. I have done the Rosarito to Ensenada bike ride also. I would love the look on the guys faces with $3000 carbon bikes when I passed them up on a 1978 universal road bike.

I've got 9 R to E rides under my belt. It's always amuzing to watch those riders with racing jerseys, tights, completely shaven, $$$$ bikes, on the side of los Tigres with their legs peeled backwards with cramps as I pass by on my old full suspension mountain bike with old man highrise handlebars.

On our last trip down, we had no idea the R to E bike race was going on. We were slugging it out with traffic on the old road until we decided to become moto escorts like on the Tour de France. Pace picked up considerably.

I did ride along side some guys that looked like they were having a fun ride and asked them what was up. One of them answered with "shot and beer every mile." Wonder if they made it all the way to Ensenada?

Yeah, that's doable. When we raced the 24hr Mtn Bike races, we averaged 2+ beers per lap over the full 24hrs.

Heading out on the 12-18 for the 2013 Baja 1000.

I'm out for the Baja 1K. Learned the pit crew I was assigned to will be an alternate crew on standby. Since I was going to have to reschedule a work commitment in order to make the 1000, I won't be heading down.

It's coming up quick! I'll be there from the 13th - 17th with KLRrob. Staying @ Mike's Wednesday, camp @ Alphonsina's or Rancho Grande Thursday, motel @ Alphonsina's Friday, Coyote Cal's Saturday. I've got my steekers ready!

I'm bummed not to be able to join, weather will probably be perfect. Call or email Coyote Cal's so he can have the curry ling cod prepped for you.

I was working in national city on Sunday, spotted the Hansen helicopter team hauling down to the border. Imagine a long school bus with the back half turned into a flatbed to hold the race car. Awesome rig!

What's ling cod? If it's seafood, I'll pass.

Crossing at Mexicali on Friday for a few days of riding and hope to catch up with the Race for the Wounded crew on their pre-run. If you see 3 Super Enduros with lots of lights, say hi. San Flippy, Gonzaga Bay, Coco's and Coyote Cal's on the hit list.

Teams should be leaving soon

A friend and I are going on Friday the 15th, just for the day. We are crossing the border at Tecate and going out to the south end of the dry lake, Laguna Salada. We got the GPX track from the SCORE web site to pick up the race course where they come out of the mountains and head out across the flats. Should be a good spot to see the trophy trucks doing 130!
It sucks the bikes are starting at 11:00pm on Thursday.

Sounds like a sweet plan.
