Yeah, the little DR is a bit of a cult classic. That pro cycle site has lots of goodies.

Fastdadio, thanks for those links. The one to the carb rebuild kit may come in handy, but one thing at a time.

I ordered a new (non-vacuum) petcock to avoid the "fuel in my motherfucking oil" problem colorfully ranted about on Facebook previously.

Today was spent at the SOS and going through all the neglected maintenance stuff.

New battery (could I for once buy a bike with a new or even working battery?!), air filter, blah blah.

Nice to see the DR has grease nipples in 4 different parts around the rear suspension. The KLR had none. You had to take the whole swingarm apart to grease all the pieces separately.

I should have the new petcock in early next week and then a quick oil change, fresh gas and a new plug later I'll be ready to ride!

Looks good Than. I'm jealous of your paintwork. I had to do some de-Barbie/Barney work. She's still showing a little purple under her skirt.

Next up, I'm going to replace the headlight with something that throws out more light than a cigarette lighter that is low on butane. I can't believe how bad it is.

It is actually an ebay seat/foam combo, size tall. It feels a lot better than the stock slab it came with.

He Than, now that you got your DS bike, time to start looking for that adventurous road bike. A bike thats built for speed and comfort for those long haul road trips. A bike that just oozes style and class, one that is sure to draw a crowd wherever you go. A bike that it would take a real man to ride. One that wherever you go other bikers, be they dirt riders or pirates would be sure to point out and say to their friends, "Look at that!!!":deal

    I give you Than's next great adventure-mobile:

Sweet! I don't think I've ever seen a blue Dream? You'll get more looks on that than a fleet of pirate ships. Those bags scream out...ROAD TRIP!

Anyone watching moto-x at Red Bud this afternoon? I'm sitting here watching it live on NBC for free. $40 at the gate. What a rip!

I'll be moving from Sheboygan Wi to GR in a couple of months, thinking about going over the top on my 2002 Silver Wing. I'll need to make a stop in Antigo so my son can put new tires and a belt on the bike. He's worried I won't be able to handle the grating on the Mackinac bridge. I've put more than 20k miles on it riding in all weather (above 40 degrees that is; I'm crazy but not stupid). Thoughts?

People makes the grates out to be a much bigger deal than they are. Its a little unnerving at first because the bike shuffles a little under you, but it's no big deal. You'll be fine.

Ah, I kid. I love that bike. I learned how to ride off road on it, first long trip, etc.
