Here's mine ... I started with a donated front half of a G/S seat, added some s/s framing ... Added some more foam to the original ... And sewed up a vinyl cover ... It's very comfy and being lower means I can get both feet flat on the ground.
Letting a professional do it, I tried, it was a huge huge fail I think I said "it looks like pickled eggs and oatmeal in a plastic shopping bag"
I built my brackets this afternoon - not quite done as I'm planning on using Dzus connectors to button down the seat. Need to do some measuring and get an order in but progress none the less. I had some 1/4" angle laying around so that's what I used. Heavy duty. Fastened to bike with a pair of 6mm SS bolts. Once I get my Dzus, I'll drill out my brackets and finish fit by rounding corners and rattle can for rust stop. Thanks for your help and ideas. Some pics for fun: I love sparks, and yes, the propane tank is full. Clamped for hole markings. WD40 lube and cool during drilling. Nearly done
lol:) I remember reading your thread now (i went back and looked too). I'm getting close to needing to do my foam. FYI - foam from Joann Fabrics doesn't cut it
the tire has about 1 inch under full compression and the shocks manitain at least 1/4 inch in the mounting pockets and about 3/4 inch for the resiviours

I've been planning a visit, just haven't had the time yet. I need to rebuild the foam on my /7 stock seat, the rider's portion is completely sacked out. digger440. love that seat. Did you have to relocate the rear hinge on the frame/seat base ?
I was originally going to use the stock hinge but then I made a whole new rear subframe so now it is bolted down. Click on the link in my signature and there is a whole string of photos showing the mess I made.
I found a local auto upholstery place - Jim's Auto Upholstery - and after chatting them up for a bit, getting prices etc, they just GAVE me a nice hunk of foam to mess around with. I hope to play with it tonight... :)
Thought I'd offer up my version of a solo seat. I'll blame Brun for the inspiration to build mine, although I still think his looks better. I'm generally pleased with the look but not quite 100%.. It took a couple tries with changing foam shaping and height to get to this point. I built the steel pan that is located by a thin notched "tongue" to a stud about 1" tall installed into an existing hole at the back of the frame's backbone tube. It also is held into position with a pin into a existing hole (that yet need a grommet for better fit) on the right side, and it latches into the stock seat latch on the left side. Padding and re-padding was done by a upholster friend who then eventually sewed up the cover. I'll get to work now on a small diameter tubing or solid rod luggage rack to extend over the rear fender. Here 'tis. Cardboard backdrop was used to hide top secret things going on in my personal "skunk works". Ok, actually it's hiding the clutter on the other side of the bike. Lynn
