The Bowen river pub Last time I was there , The swedish barmaid had an ample boosom ,. I'm getting the shakes just thinking about her. The steak sandwich and the beer was pretty good as well.
It doesn't look anything like what i saw in 1981, someone's spent some coin on it. As far as riding there goes, i plotted a course from Bowen to Eungella and another from Eungella to Bogie and on to the Burdekin dam via Bowen river, so when are we?
So was it an operating pub back then??? looks like a good little pub now , hope the fans are quieter than Dotties.. Dunno about dates, I couldn't do it before xmas, so we'll have to work around next years wet season . Hands up for wet black soil......
Err no it was closed back then, but it was a popular camping spot on the River, that's where i met the Brunker sisters from Collinsville :huh And yes no riding for me till next year either and you can stick! your wet black soil
Yep1, that's the shitty thing about the wet and heat up here. Gotta put the bike in hibernation for 6 months. Might have to tarise the KLR or get meself a decent on road bike and cruise through the wet. At least I won't get overtaken on the highway by suzuki swifts. On the way back from leaving you mob and heading back to Townsville ,I tried to keep pace with a couple of goldwings doing the long ride for cancer, WRONG!!. Might have to get down to the Bowen river pub in the next few weeks and have an ale or 2. Then head up back throught the dam. Makes for a good day run.
The bridge just before the pub. You would have camped there Pete. Coming in to the back of the Burdiken Dam. Some section of the track got rocky and narly, good for ripping tyres. Ealy morning heading to the Bowen pub . All klr's were grounded.
The eldest one was a bouncer at the Collinsville pub, you didn't mess with her. A couple of the younger ones were cute but had to keep an eye out for big sis. Barra, go and do a recon ride up the Roma Peak road just out of Bowen onto Pretty bend rd onto Normanby rd back to Bogie
Barra, let me know when you want to go as I should be right for a day trip or an overnight. Have been away a bit lately with work and family commitments, getting keen for a trip. Just need to pull my finger out and do an oil change and treat the bike to a couple of new 606's, apart from a wash have not touched it since I got back from the gulf. gk
Head back through the dam??? Is the spillway stopped running at last??? Was up there in may and was running about 2metres over bloody impressive!
Was out the jemfields the other day and saw a notice about a gemfields motocross club getting started, hope it happens for them, could imagine a awesome track could be built with all the machinery/dirt they got out there.
Some good riding out the Gemfields, no doubt we will hear soon about the MX track. The next Springsure Rally in May is going to be exploring some new tracks amongst the fossicking areas and Mountain Ranges, might even take a dip down North of the Carnarvon gorges getting there.
the ts 185 throw the towel at dalby on day one. picked up a second hand dr 650 to continue. its in stock form except for 30lt tank bashplate barkeys and a rack. she ran like a dream there and back .... but seems doughy for a 650 any suggestion to make her go a little harder without taking from reliability
Well! Check out the DR thread for all sorts of mods in there, pumper carb/airbox/jetting and pipe seem to be the go.
Ohh GOD... I can hear the orange pumpkin reliability snide remarks from here.. Bright side is being a DR member now , means that OBJ gets a free shot of chain lube & molly free of charge..... Obviously mate the shoulder kept on a go'n, good trip?? We head south early next week.
they are spoiled rotten down there trails seem to link up one after another .... where are you heading ?
