Pain in the butt ain't it? There are two ways I get mine out. Easiest is the plug tool that came with the bike's tool kits. But those tend to get lost over the years. The other way is with a deep well socket and a short extension.

    1) insert the socket and extension.
    2) attach the ratchet (I cannot fit the ratchet, extension and socket in all at the same time).
    3) loosen the plug a few turns
    4) remove the ratchet (otherwise it will get backed into the frame and you will not be able to remove it).
    5) unscrew the plug by hand the rest of the way.

I know it sounds retarded- like "help me, I can't change my spark plug!" :lol3
Offhand do you remember which size socket? 18 mil? Guess I'll just bring the plug in with me to the depot.

I think 18mm is right. I'm too lazy to put my shoes on and go out to the shop to check. Might be best to bring the plug with you. Wait, how are you going to bring it with you if you have no socket to remove it?:rofl I think you should just ride the bike right into the tool section at Home Depot. They'll understand.

for sale on flea bay last week? If so I am in need of them.We
can hook up as I am here in the Springs if that in fact is true,
you still have them, and still want to get rid of them.

[Carl]: Yup, if it's a NGX plug, it takes an 18 mm socket.
    If it's a Champion, it's 5/8.
Thin wall socket in either case.
Be kind to the plug cap.

The stock plug wrench is the best [honda part # 89216-mj1-000][171 in hondas werehouse]. I have tried every plug wrench in the universe, but the stock is the best. If you know anyone with a xr650l, any year is the same tool. luck:clap

[Carl]: Long shot but PB Blaster might do it.
    I think I used a 3/8 drive Craftsman 18mm socket.
    Soak with PB Blaster overnight.
Put a breakover bar on it and go.
If the socket breaks, return it.
    Good luck.

</long>Page 2: Ummm, I followed German and Dutch pages on opening up the CDI unit from the back. :evil
Well the pictures looked good enough so I didn't bother to have 'em translated. :deal

WARNING: When you cut into the back of the CID unit, if you see any beige dust coming out -- STOP -- that's the circuit board. :cry
Well, a new CID box is just $105 plus $12 shipping from Discount Honda.

    Philosophy:
A buddy, Dave, on SabMag reported taking a bunch of students out on a road lesson. They came up on a motorcycle crash where a guy had run off a corner. Ambulance etc. was there. Students stopped to stare. Dave announced there was a lesson to be learned here. it was "Don't be that guy".
So to paraphrase Dave, "Don't be me." :1drink

    Hey the Dommie page!!!!! wooooo
This is mine, 93 model nx 650, with the 23 litre tank ( but can fit 26 in?) I have handlebar warmers 25mm risers with narrow fatbars fitted also the barkbusters, I've moulded the seat to a similar shape of my arse which makes the long hauls a bit better ;) its only a few hundred k's off 80 thousand and the challenge is to hit 100 before spliting the engine ( in the last 20 000km's so far so good) anyway enough yaping here's my dommie.

Don't I know it. Especially when the PO has chewed up a Philips head or two.

I'm still tempted to give some of the less-hot bits a quick overspray of Boeshield just to keep 'em happy for the long run.

Funny about the Honda V4 thing in your sig...my previous bike was an '84 VF500F, but in California. GMTA or something.

    Hi everyone,

I just picked up an '03 V-Strom and it looks like the NX will have to go. Sure, once that I got it set up so nicely. :huh Items that I could take off and sell seperately are:

spare set of wheels, no rust at all, pretty fresh Metzler Karoos with just a few hundred miles on them
Renazco seat, med blue with silver piping/logo
Pro-Duro stainless exhaust, definitely used, but looks great with a little Brasso

I haven't really thought of any prices yet. Any interest? PM me.

Some pics of the bike in summer d/s mode here:

Set of wheels in excellent condition with Metzler Karoos mounted, maybe 300 miles on them. Perfect balance, new tubes, rim strips.
    250.

Renazco seat ~1 yr old. I paid 340. Blue that matches the oem seat, silver piping and logo. Wider, flatter, easily doubles the "comfort zone" miles.
    200.

Laser Pro-Duro exhaust and 2-1 headers. New is like 600. or something ridiculous. Buffs up REALLY nice with some Brasso.
    150.

    Together all 3 for 500 +shipping?

Gotta keep the Acerbis tank though!

I'd sell the bike with all the goodies plus Wolfman tank bag and JCWbox for 2400. Minus the goodies, I guess 1700. Including my homemade windshield!

26k miles - fresh everything. Bike has been well ridden/lots of little scratches everywhere. Desmogged. +1 pilot +2 main.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
