I am not much on the cold and wet for riding either, but I think I'd be up for just about anything in Savannah. ;)

I had never been to a bordello museum.....I would love to read some of the diaries of the women working there back then. They things they could reveal!

Apparently, bears can't always "go" in the woods.........

I've passed by this sign many times, but it was always old and faded, like it had been there for 50+ years. Recently I rode by it, and they had repainted it. I liked it better old and faded.

I understand your point, and agree with your thinking on that, but I saw something worse happen here in Portland.

A few years back, the pealing paint on an old warehouse in the southeast part of town had revealed an advertisement for Studebaker Carriages- yeah, not automobiles, carriages, an old sign indeed. I drove by that building every evening on my way home from work, and every time I looked at the sign, I wished someone would do something to preserve it. Then one day I found it had been painted over- not repainted, but just painted over with the same beige paint that they had used to cover the rest of the building. I get angry all over again every time I think about it.

Maybe the sign could have been preserved as it was, maybe not. If not, I wish they had restored it as closely as possible to the original- anything but paint it over.

I can only hope that the new paint is of poor enough quality that it will do like the old paint did and someday peal away, once again revealing the sign.

Maybe my grandchildren will get to see it.

Portland, Oregon is not into history. Neither is Eugene. I was born in Eugene and I am still here, but I moved to Springfield.

Not as much as I would like, but they don't ignore it entirely.

Hey I was there this summer

Had a kick ass breakfast of Huevos Rancheros at a brew pub down the street.

I was there just a couple days after seeing this one in Hayduke's home town
