Get a eurostyle fender from PW on ebay. That will solve your problem and make your fender stiff. If that doesn't do it start looking for a urologist.

Nice FZ-6. I have one of those too and love it.

Hey gang,

been away for a bit due to work and other hobbies (shooting and reloading and then shooting again) and just spent a week riding over in the Mena, Ar area with the family. Man I love this bike. I have an 08' 530 EXCR with around 85 hours on it is what it says on the computer. Don't really look at the puter' much cause I am too busy riding. Anyway I had the suspension re-worked by SMS here in Denton, TX. What a difference this makes. Anyone that has one of this bikes, or any bike for that matter get your suspension tuned to you. I would not have believed it myself, but when my wife says that she was shocked at how fast I was going through the woods on loop comprised of trails 8, 816 and 6 at Wolf Pen in Mena, I guess it has some merit.

It also saved my hide on this same trip. I came down trail 6 right before 826 and took the last water diverter a little hot. I do not know how far I flew but I knew I was in over my head. I just leaned back and let the bike take it. I managed to keep it all together with just a little dab. I promptly pulle dover and cleaned out my pants before anyone else rolled up behind me.

So after all of this fun I have been watching skills videos and have realized how out of shape I have let myself get after practicing some of them in the back yard. Those guys are incredible and trying to do a controlled wheelie and coordinate the rear brake and clutch is really something. This is goign to be baby steps. The log hopping is taking shape I managed to get over a couple of 12" logs a couple of times last night without touching them. I just need to work on consistently being able to do it. Then I will move on to bigger lumber.

Practice those skills guys these bikes are incredible. I have drank from the orange Kool-Aid cup now . It is going to be hard going back to the base colors again.

So I have swapped in a new Euro tail and need to get the rear bolts for this. Anyone have a source. The swap was due to having lost the bolts due to stripped plastic in the fender.

Hey Krazyjohnny! Get one of those KTM bolt kits they sell in a small plastic box. It's a kit that basically has every little oem KTM bolt you'll need. If your tail plastic is still stripped out, the new bolts won't help you much. Also, aftermarket plastics don't have those plastic bosses to thread into so maybe get oem if you have to replace your rear plastics. That's been my experience w/the '08

I'm pretty excited too.

Like all builds from a box, I've found myself short a pretty long list of odds and ends. Nothing very expensive, but want to put the chassis together with correct fasteners throughout. So, motor is in frame, suspension and wheels are on, and we're stopped.

Also, I decided to chase the threads on the upper subframe mount bolts, and broke a tap off in the frame. So, I've got a project ahead of me, that I'm currently trying to ignore.

A 570 would be big fun! But I agree that when my 530 is awake and pulling hard it blows tires to bits and wheelies in 4th at the drop of a hat.

But then a little more might be just what it needs,sort of get rid of that peakiness inherent to the bikes.............

It still works, but is less effective on some bikes (usually the internet ones). My friend's bike has 230 hours on it's backwards cam (I checked), and it has no trouble starting. . . . well, not entirely true, his 5 year old battery finally packed it in. If it ain't broke. . . . .

edit Michhub, I'm not being argumentative, I'm just stating that while it is a well documented issue, it has a lesser affect on some. If you have trouble , change it, if not, I don't see the point.

I have an 08 that I got used with very low hours. Valves were in the middle of measurement and no other issues. I always had to kick it and thought that was normal. You basically had to put your entire weight on the kick to even turn the bike over. I got to where I didn't even try the e-start. The e-start would turn it over but not enough to fire. I did all of hookas mods. My friend has an 09 which fires up no prob. He rode on mine and about broke his leg kicking it. I decided to swap out the cam. That solved everything. Fires up with the button and kick smooth and easy. I haven't had to kick it since. I love my bike again. But like the post above states, I only fixed it because it was broke.

Just sold my 2010 690R moving to a 530. Better suits my riding. Its a 2010 xc-w six days with 10 hrs on bike. Time to tear it apart.
I know its gonna cost me.

I have the same issues on my '08 530 EXC-R, and will be doing Hak's Torque limiter mod. Supposedly the cam was fixed by the previous owner, but I will check.

 I think its time for a new battery 530.
Have there been improvements in the Shorai products? Or should I stick with conventional?

went for a ride, for some reason brake light and headlight are not working. Bulb not burned out, there is no switch so I'm stumped. Anybody have similar issue?

Ok I'm a dumb ass, lol. Checked wiring diagram and walla, choke knob turned into a headlight switch. Previous owner was a dumb ass also evidently

I'm thinking of picking up a 500+ cc thumper for desert duties (the LC8 tries to kill me everytime i take her out to the desert :huh) during weekends and swap to supermoto wheels during the week. There is not much technical riding to do here but lots of open sand desert. I'll be getting a 20+ ltr tank on any bike that i'll pick up.

I'm not very knowledgeable about the EXC range but do understand from reading here that the old RFS engined bikes are known for the better engines (?) and the newer XC engined bike for the chassis and suspension.

There is an '07 525EXC (RFS) for around 4000$ and an '09 530EXC for approx 4900$ . Being the last year RFS the 525 looks attractive to me but i'm thinking why not go for the newer '09 if it is good ?

what do you guys say ?

I'd take the 2009. I sold my 2007 525 exc in the fall and picked up 2009 530. I had a fair amount of time on my buddies 2008, and they are better bikes all around as far as I am concerned, with equal reliability. The '09 is even better again. The RFS has a loyal following, but I like the newer motor more myself.
