    Honda brings the MotoGP tech...

...front and rear wheel sensors suggest traction control...
...rumored, MotoGP derived, "intelligent direction shock"...
    ...rumored dual injection...

I do know the entire rear subframe is carbon and apparently the engine is completely new, hand crafted by HRC with some unobtanium internals. The rumors are strong about a lot of bleed over from the MotoGP engineers.

Did top level rallying just become much, much more expensive?

Only if they win. And then win again next year and a few more after that. :D

If they don't put enough gas, they will have another NR750.

I think Honda just got more serious again and they certainly have the funding to do whatever they want if they decide to. It should be a very interesting Dakar this year with all the rider swapping and new tech.

I heard (read in fact) the opposite rumor: Chaleco was not happy that KTM did not allow him to race Desafío Inca, and instead call him for Morocco test and Rally were he was only intended to test suspensions, and moreover not given latest spec KTM for Dakar 14

You might be right. My rumor goes back a good 6 weeks to 2 months so things may have changed a bit for him. As fellow, fast South Americans like Daniel Gouet and Desafio Inca winner Pablo Quintanilla now on KTM 450RR's, maybe Chaleco feels the pressure to up his factory game a bit.

Doyle, also new Honda bike, and improvements in Yamaha with Despres put preassure over Chaleco with an "old" factory KTM.

Also Jeremias Israel (impressive rookie last Dakar) has also switched to Speedbrain Chavo, look at him!!

Southamericans do not "gather" to compete within them (lets say Chaleco, Pizzolito, Gouet, Salvatierra, Arredondo etc), it may mostly happen within one nationals.
Chile has, because of De Gavardo and Chaleco legacy, a good number of quick riders:
    Gouet
    Israel
    Quintanilla
    Cabrera
    Prohens brothers

They may compete to be the best chilean!

If the performance of HRC's bikes improves as much as their promo videos did, compared to last year, I think they will prove to be a real threat to the podium. :D :rofl

    http://teamhrc.com/video/sao_paulo_0930.mp4.zip

It looks like the video from the smashed camera, that was spotted in the spy photos from a few weeks ago, made it into the promo.

I tried to be polite and generalize South Americans because I didn't want to get someone's nationality wrong and offend them. :lol3 There looks to be some good friendly rivalry among los Chilenos.

That seems to be a Honda thing, as I recall Helder having open guards last year as well.
