    We're in.
TS Safari two up for the first week, followed by a dirty week one up doing the GS.
I'm riding down and back from the Gold Coast and planning to be on the road for about a month.
Who wants to ride the twisty way to the ferry?
Probably via the snowies and whatever mountain passes we can find on the way.
    Leaving the Gold Coast 27/10/14.

I was hoping the registration might be a bit later. Got back from Darwin/Cairns on Friday, and cant quite swing registering for the next one with the wife a week later:eek1.

Seems I will have to give this one a miss.

Just back from Darwin, going to Tassie. Changing bikes...had the GSW in Darwin and if all goes to plan I will have finished the resto on my R80G/S just in time to take it to Tassie.

I was just going to have a look at the registration website. Honestly.
Next thing I know, money went missing from my account and replaced with a registration number in my inbox :eek1

This will be my second Safari. I did last year's through the Victorian high country and had a blast. Really looking forward to getting down to Tassie on the bike after spending two weeks there earlier this year in a camper-van. Can't wait to see the planned route.

For the seasoned Safari goers, any hints, tips on what to bring our what farkles to fork out for?

I did read about soft luggage only.
Assuming we will do a lot of stand up riding, already got bar risers installed on my non-GSA. Contemplating the wider foot peg solution/pivot pegs.
Tyres? Got almost new Anakee 3 on rear, not sure if I should rethink that one for something more aggressive.

Your feedback will be much appreciated.

And anyone else from Sydney doing a 2 day safari to the safari?

Tyres for bikes support the event, more detail coming I guess. Best bet is to order a set of knobbies for the tyre truck and they'll change them prior to the event.
FYI, I don't like bar risers on my 1200 these days, just roll them forward heaps now, I like getting low and forward otherwise the bloody torque has me arms getting too tired. Good core body strength and a decent kidney belt can help the lower back maintain comfort without bringing the bars up with risers.
Have good proper comfy off road boots that are broken in. Have a Camelbak or similar to help keep hydrated. First aid kit.
Good bashplate and crash bars can be useful. Not really anything else needed. Headlight, radiator or oil cooler gaurd could be considered. Anything else may be nice to have but equally most of beyond this is useless.
Tankbag can be good if it has a clear map pouch to read the route sheet.
Good idea to get a Uni-filter pre cleaner. You could chase up a decent toolkit, tyre repair kit, pump, gauge and so on.

It's Tassie, 4 seasons in one day, be prepared for all weather. I'm not real sure about this whole glamping swag thing. Makes sense up north in winter in dry season, but I aint sold on the whole swags in Tassie in November thing.

    Cheers,

I'm gonna be crucified for not having all the BMW gear :D
It starting to sound too much like Apple & iPhone & iTunes. I just don't buy into that shit.

    Anyhow,
I got bar risers as I'm fairly tall and the standard GS bar, even when rolled forward, doesn't work for me.

Seems like some minor additions and I will be good. Thanks for the tips.

How do I go about discreetly asking to share with someone who does not snore?

How many inmates from Sydney heading to Tasmania in November. Anyone planning on trailering and has a spot for extra bike and cost share.

    Cheers:evil
