Hi all, I am looking at purchasing a 02 GSA with extremely low miles.
Just curious what kind of MPG I can expect as a average or Freeway @70?
    Thanks, Tom

The BMW spec at 75 mph steady speed is 41 mpg running gasoline or about 39 mpg running E10. Your mileage may vary. ;)

Don't be surprised if you get less.

When I took the BMW spec at 75 mph and extrapolated it to 80 mph I came up with 36 mpg gasoline and 35 mpg for E10.

2002 Adventure. 44mpg @ 70mph pre-ethonal days. Right around 40 mph these days with E10. Drops to 35 give or take above 80 mph loaded for camping.

My 04 got 40mpg always, regardless of where or how ridden. So far, mileage has been a lot lower on my 06, even though it seems to run very well. Still figuring it out.

Hi Tom, 33-45. Really drops off above 60 mph. Winter fuel, riding below 3,000 ft, rider position, use of high drag lubes, low state of tune, old O2 sensor and plugs all cut economy. 1100's are better on fuel, 50 mpg common.

Tell us more about the prospect 1150. "Extremely low miles" on an 1150 isn't necessarily a good thing imo. Don't apply too much premium there. Could still have much maintenance in store. Should have more than 45k just to demonstrate lack of build defects. Actual condition is more important than odo. Documented 50-75k from exp BMW rider might have new rotors, tires, batt, m cyl, clutch slave, fuel pump, hoses, cables, free of dry seals, ect.

Rare find. Plastic or meal cases? Adventure model? Prices vary by region. Check with your insurance agent on replacement value. NADA gives an average retail value for '02 non-adv GS as $5350. Not unusual to see a clean 40-70k miler going for $6,000+. If you add another $1k you're still not above $7500. The way I look at it is unless price includes extended svc contract you could be on the hook for anything from spline shaft to seals or ABS pump. Level III doesn't include things like internal tank hoses or tires. Seller needs to produce proof of time dependent annual service otherwise could still defined as neglected.

Lifetime MPG for my 2001 (single spark) is 42.04. Recently. I have noticed the mileage dropping a few 10ths. I believe its time for a tuneup, valve adjust, TB balance and new front brake pads (they are OE)....maybe some new brake lines.

Question is, should I also wash it? It hasn't had a wash in two years.

46 mpg two up 65 mph and 80 mile days. When the yellow warning light comes on I still have a whole day of riding before I think of filling up.Just pokin a little fun. This thread is about mpg,not miles per day like some people think they need to throw in.If you are going 82 mph for 800 miles per day you are most likely sitting on the interstate. If you want to enjoy riding why would you sit on the interstate?

So do you fuel up every three days or top it off each morning?
