I know theres volumes on oil changes for this thing, but how much of an issue is it if the bike is slightly over filled? I dod oil and filter, and put 2 litres in and ran the bike until the fan came on. Checked oil and it wasnt on the stick. Added about 300ml and now when the dip stick is screwed in(debate on this too) its about 1/3 of an inch high.
Should I get some out or am I fine? I figure since the tank is essentially a holding tank that a bit extra isnt a problem as the oil runs though it, but dont want to end up screwing something up

I did go ride! First time in a 2 weeks. The mercury finally got to 0 and no snow or rain so I had to get my fill with dry roads. Supposed to be around 0 all week so im going to ride until the snow is up to the forks!
Maybe tomorrow I will take the bike out on the ice for some photos

My many Subaru's and Toyota trucks were dead reliable. None of them were anywhere near as exciting or involving as my Porsche. Just because they all have 4 wheels doesn't make them comparable. My KLR650 was as reliable as an old farm tractor. It just ran and ran and ran. The XC is in a whole nother world compared to the KLR. Sure they both can go similar places, but the comparisons end after 4 stroke 650 class dual sport motorcycle.

Any idea on the stock spring rate on the forks... Trying to figure out what springs to throw in the Ktm forks... I weigh 185lbs before gear so any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

Found this unused connector under the seat. Anyone know what it is, and is there a fuse that protects it? Looking to install heated grips and would rather use an unused switched source than install a relay.

It's for the evaporation cannister solenoid valve.

Not sure about the current draw of the grips compared to the capacity of that wire. My advice would be to use the wire you have identified to trigger a relay.

I have heated grips, heated vest and an extra accessory socket on my dash all running through a relay triggered by that wire. The useful thing is that the wire is only live while the engine is running so you know you won't be running your battery down if you stop the engine with the kill switch rather than the ignition. I also have the permanently live accessory socket by the shock which is useful for charging electronic devices back at the campsite.

G'day Inmates, anyone out there know were I can get a replacement swing arm. BMW has none in stock anywhere. Happy to pay a reasonable price.

My eye is on a roadworthy 20,000 mile G650 Xch which could become a parts bike provided there's a market and I'm able to pre-sell enough parts to justify. Let me know!

I would be interested in the swing arm. Any idea when you intend to strip the bike down?

You can't post up asking for a swing arm without telling us what happened to yours.

I'd have interest in the right fork leg, depending on how far down you are stripping and parting.

Building a G650 Xch Snowbike with larger front shocks. So I'm selling all the wheel related parts.

Will start the build once I have P.O.'s for these parts:
1. ABS complete system.

2. Front end complete: Wheel, Forks, Upper and Lower fork cross braces.

3. Rear end complete: Wheel, Swing Arm, Shock.

Those things are really cool, but do you have a cheap bike in mind or why would you do it with an X? Power to weight rules in the snow, and the X is not exactly a high performer....

Would be a lot more fun with a 450-570 offroad bike, even a 690 is already borderline.

Da swing arm definitely not happy.
