Last week I sold my k1200R and bought a new GS,
the same colors, same engine size but what a difference. I already put on her 900 miles, by far this is the best suited bike for me.

Nice bike Governor. I used to spend a bit of time in Viroqua back when I was younger. Lots of drinking and enjoying the back roads from what I can remember :huh

Ok, so I like the looks and some of the accessories on the R1200GSA but it's a heavy bike and I already have a 06 GS. So this is what I did. White paint, red r1200 sticker clear-coated. Hepco and becker crash bars, Pia driving lamps, Adventure windscreen plus winglets - it really works great! off road pegs, front touratech mudguard and touratech handle winglets. I like the light handling of my r1200gs and it's still there for the most part. The big tank on the GSA is nice but makes the bike that much heavier.

R1200GSAL is simply GS Adventuer Lite.

That is sweet - have you done a cost comparison to see if it ended up any cheaper than a GSA.

Yes, it's really negligible. The GSA with luggage would be 2,800$ more, this is really not that much considering the length of ownership.

And don't worry, I will continue to post the countdown, so you know EXACTLY when this day is going to be.
    cheers,

15 days from now BMW is announcing the new 1250 Adventure. It is 75 Lbs. lighter and makes 140HP and 100 Lb Fts of torque. The New GSAR will get 65.237 miles per gallon fully loaded and will have push button deployable knobbies. The drivetrain and engine will use high grade lifetime walrus whisker oil and will be sealed to guard against tampering. The bike will not use a key, it will employ a fingerprint scanning device on the starter button. An option will be a heated cupholder designed in conjunction with Starbucks, perfectly sized for your venti Mocha yada yada yada with skim.

Here in Holland we've tested the GSA-R already, but the unfortunate testpilot was shot by a group of Greenpeace activists.
Greenpeace was not amused because BMW uses "walrus-Whisker oil":freaky

No Starbucks over here in the Netherlands I'm afraid (first one to open in 2007, but behind customs at the national airport), so no point for having that option over here. But I did get the specs of the GSA-R from my dealer during my visit today. Great to hear that BMW's i-Drive for automobiles is to be implemented in a supercompact version on the GSA-R. No more navigation/mp3 players needing to be purchased afterwards, but a mature and fully, integrated version straight from the Berlin factory on your bike. Price is a bit steep, but I'm sure the 2200 US $ for it will be worth every penny. Can't wait for two full weeks, I want to see it now !!! :freaky :clap
