I am watching this with interest. My bike acted the same and I ended up with 52/152 jets. How is your bike running at this point?
I don't have the XR case saver but it looks like a wheel on a 4" grinder and I could make a notch. MX boots are always stiff when I first get them. Stand then in a tub of warm water for 30 minutes. Put 'em on wet and walk 'em dry. Might take a few hikes to get them dry over a couple days but they will loosen up. Mink oil after they are completely dry. The ones I have now are still stiffer than regular boots but I can easily shift with the shifter in the stock position. They got soaked on a 5 hour ride the day I got them and they are very comfortable now. John
John and All interested parties. Pop's contacted me this AM and we have been doing a long distance carb check / o-haul. Plugged jets, 3 month old Mexican gas, won't idle, etc. Stay tuned...
could you elaborate. My bike starts easy when cold. After very little time (5-10 sec) I can turn choke off and it idles smoothly with little engine noise. It takes off ok enough but is lacking in power (IE... no power wheelies). It bogs down in all gear but seems to become worse at higher speeds. I'm led to believe that a certain amount off bucking etc is to be expected when you hit high rpm's in any gear as the thumper can't keep up. That's not what this is. What I'm experiencing seems more relative to LOAD than to actual engine speed. I can rev the bike in neutral and it doesn't sputter etc. However, if I get up to third gear and crank on it, it bucks like mad and cuts out 45mph. if I creep up to speed and shift early and be smooth I can get to that 45mph (in3rd) and I still get it cutting out. If I'm in 4th it happens at 50mph, and 5th I can ride 55. From there (55 in 5th gear) even the slightest of wrist turning will throw me forward on the handle bars as my momentum carries me forward when the bike peters out. If I back off it'll settle back nicely at 55. Not a good feeling to be on a bike knowing you don;t have the power to get yourself away froman inattentive cager. Plus I wanna fvcking power wheelie this would be beast!
Wanna buy my KTM???? Runs like a scalded ape, jets perfect, runs perfect, has every goodie known to man on it
the jets are stock 52/152. plug show lean if anything. hard to tell since the plug is new and the miles are few...hey that rhymed! Junior at xrsonly thought it needed bigger jets so I have them coming. 55/158.
anticlimactic but progress I guess <object width="400" height="300"> man that hurts <embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/1325190202057" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="400" height="300"></object>
thanks faddah. so tell me how you cleaned out the carbs? i take it you removed all the removable stuff like jets and what not?
pots and pans cycle with extra dry.................. haven't totally cleaned it YET looks like I'm headed in to those woods now
It's piece of cake after what you been through. Just get a fiche printed out and a clean place to lay all the parts. They are delicate but really easy.
