There are quite a lot of downed trees, but almost all main roads are open now and power is slowly being restored

Thanks, for the reply. I guess contacting the Freehold Twp. police is the next step, or are they going to be to overwhelmed.
I can't even imagine what you guys are going through. I lived in the Freehold area for almost 30 years (moved to NM 4 years ago) and spent my summers at the shore as a teen, but never saw anything like Sandy. I'm guessing it will be a while before I hear from most of my friends.
Do you think the Stumpjumper will be cancelled? I'm a former MCI member.

    Best wishes to everyone.

Jones Act suspended (for oil tankers, until nov 13)! Let the oil flow (in theory)!

That will allow foreign tankers to say load in Port Arthur Texas or any U.S. port and deliver to NJ/NY. Which is good but there is a lot of tankers just anchored offshore waiting to come in already. The problem is the terminals have no power at the moment. The port will reassess at 1700 again today by Coast Guard for re-opening. I'm on a short notice now to go in.

The Jones Act suspension...will that only help the fuel situation in NJ at all? Or is that fuel just for use in NY?

that allows non-US flagged ships to bring in fuel to US ports. as dockingpilot pointed out that is all well and good; except the lack of power on shore makes getting the gas from ship to holding tank to tanker trunk kind of difficult!

it is a step in the right direction to ensure there is lots of supply on hand to meet demand once that supply can move through the entire chain. this will help the fuel situation across the region; this isn't state specific.

i also bet that servers along waterfronts won't be kept on the ground floor anymore (re: manifest lists for cargo ships). whoever designed that didn't think things through very well - although i'm sure there are tons of reasons why it just "happened" that way over the years. of course i really know nothing about any of this - i'm just an armchair quarterback. my workplace (financial markets) learned a lot of these lessons during 9/11.

Maybe have each entrant in the NYC Marathon bring a full gas can to donate as part of the entry fee?

The only oil terminals that serve this area are on the Delaware on Philly and Paulsboro in south Jersey and the Port of NJ/NY in Bayonne, Linden, Carteret and Seawarren.

And I still have not been called yet to board one. Our office was wiped out. We have one pilot from ct. Who had no impact at home already aboard the boat so he is in ready to board the first ship when we get the all clear from Coast Guard
