    That are reliable...

    Whats your point?

Just give it up, KTMs are just as, if not more reliable as any other bike designed to do the same thing.

    Congratulations to Honda anyway...

Factory built ktms are slightly more reliable agreed.

But they have nothing on the baja450x. Ktms don't really do well down there.

    Might be cursed?

It's not a bike thing, it's a knowledge thing. Nobody is going to walk into Baja and beat a team like JCR who has been winning this for the last 10 years. It will take a few years and the right people to beat Honda. I raced the 500 earlier this year on a 450x and paid for JCR pit services. World class!

It is well agreed that Jcr and Honda have a great pit system.

But you need riders and a bike.

This years 1000 was billed as the closest ever due to the racing before hand.

Arguably the form of Caselli, Pearson and then bell and henge veld was better than Colton Timmy and Kamo.

Colton was a standout. He rode the wheels off the bike to build and maintain a lead.

According to that completely unreliable crappy tool called the Internet, Timmy had been spending weeks pre running the night section at night.

For him to put time into the night master in henge was unbelievable.

Ktm have been trying to get Baja for a decade now. They just can't crack it.

What's incredible is the privateer Kawi team - bell is an awesome rider and they were the real contenders to dethrone the 450x.

Here's an update from teamate Steve Buckley's wife -
Just talked to Steve again: Earl called and he had a good ride and now done with his last section. Marko on bike for last leg to La Paz. My goodness this has been a long race. I'm sure they are exhausted. Ride safely Marko to the finish!!

When I got off the bike at mile 620 @ 11:00 pm last night we were in 2nd and picking up some time.
I then dove home so I could get to my sons Play off High School football game tonight at 7:00
So with stoping at 4:00 am and getting 4 hours of sleep I made it in time to watch my sons last High School football game.
His team lost ,But he played great !!
As for the Race, we had some down time (an hour +)Thuesday am before the bike got to me.
When the bike came to me ,I took off and had a great ride making up a bunch of time passing 5 other bikes ( DUSTY!! )
I passed the bike off at LA Bay then jumped in the chase truck and headed south.
I jumped back on the Bike at 8:30 pm and road another 120 miles and had a blast !! The silt was so deep it was coming over the front fender like a wave of warter. It was a great time riding with my old Honda teamates from the 80's
From what I just now read on face book the bike did finish after being stuck in the silt beds way down south for some time.

I will get a full up date in a few days need toget some sleep !!!!!!!

Quinn Cody's FB about ten minutes ago:

Hi everyone, thanks for all your concerns. I'm here in San Diego at UCSD. I had surgery last night to repair a spiral fracture to my left femur. I am fine, just in quite a bit of pain; not a scratch on my whole body except for the femur. What happen was less then 10 miles to the end of my section, north of the Hwy 22 junction at around race mile 950, the fog had come in pretty bad. At that point, and I mis-judged my speed on to a small side road around a mud hole, came in too hot, and low-sided. My foot caught the berm on the edge of the road and twisted my leg. I knew instantly that my leg was broken.

I am super disappointed in myself for letting down my team, but I am glad everyone else on our team made it through safe. Everyone at KTM did a great job on their first official Baja 1000. With a lot more testing and some more Baja experience for the crews and riders, KTM will get their first Baja 1000 win. Thanks to KTM, Bonanza Pluming, FMF, Baja Designs and all of our pit volunteers.

    Presumably Quinn wears knee braces?

Strange that he got a fracture if he was?
