Thanks, conchscooter. I got stationed at Key West NAS back in '75. Rode my new XL350 from San Diego with two duffal bags stacked on the back. Back then it was still the old overseas hwy where they pulled up the train rail and mounted it up as guard-rail. I think the sub pits across from the base are still open for stealth camping. Being from the west coast it took a while to get used to swimming in and getting rained on by warm water.

Maybe soon. Dropped Spud off at the fabricator's shop today. Spud III will be a production proto: Maybe tube framed and skinned with aluminum?

Thanks for sharing your trip Papa!
Great ride, great pics and great spud.
From the look on your face, you had a great time too.

I also see you had a bottle of Squirt (nectar of the gods) in the spud. Niiiice!

Great idea, great report. This is why I love this site. I can't wait for the next episode.

Spud brought back memories of Stan Mott and the Cyclops. Google it if you're too young to know.

The submarine pens on Boca Chica were closed by the navy a couple of years ago. They say drink and an automobile ended someone's life there and the Navy decided stealth anything was no longer allowed. Such is life. The Spud would be great in the Keys where it still rains warm water and 50 degrees is a very cold night indeed.

Working at shipping kits by spring and units come summer, but ??? Who knows, I'm new to this inventor stuff.

    conchscooter--

Lots of dead rigs at the bottom of the pits. A huge grouper lived in a coral encrusted Metro where we dove. We were Army, so I can't attest to the behavior of squids from the air station, but we drank. Even had beer vending machines in our barracks. Specialist 4 Avery, well imbibed, added his POS Chevy. Ran it right past the fire and over the edge on a dare.

That would be awesome, I have a buddy that lives up in Sandpoint Idaho, I try to get out every couple of years for some elk camping (i'd say hunting but we tend to spend more time around the fire drinking and telling tales) .

Would love to see pics of Spud III coming to life....!

Now I just have to find a hitch that fits on the Ulysses.

"Thanks for the positive comments. It helps keep the drive alive. I'm going to run Spud up to Lake Owyhee this weekend and should get a dust of snow. It will make for good pics with the top on. Also will be testing a heater. "

Did you get any pics of Spud II with the top on?

Care to consider selling plan sets after the patent is done? Probably a lot higher profit margin on making paper / CD plans than complete mail-out kits. Possibly less liability issues, if disclaimer added, rather than manufacturer's insurance.

Thanks to all here at AR for the comments. I think it was when riding through that market labyrinth with Nathan, two water guns holstered to his postie 110, that I decided to get in on this skiddering about the globe behind a set of handle bars. Doug on his hard tail chop and Nathan on his postie sucked me in.

"OK Dad." my kids would croon through condescending smiles when appraised of my desire. That's when I realized why those here are called "inmates". I would catch loved ones waging heads and clicking their tongues.

"You're in no condition to sleep on the ground."

    "I'll bring a bed."

    "[blink...blink]"

    "Dad, you haven't the money."

"The bed will bring money." I smile.

    "Mom! Whats wrong with him?"

"It's that Adventure Rider crap he's been filling his head with." She waves a paper. " I found a passport application in his sock drawer."

If I sell build plans it may compromise my exclusivity pitch when marketing a patent licensing. But, I'll discuss it with my patent lawyer. This is Dave. He's a car guy. He also builds teardrops. Thinks he can get Spud III's shell down to under 10lbs. Cool. He's doing this on a hand shake and it would be nice to sell a few plans to pay him.

Yep, an illness, without a doubt.

I see you have reached "stage three". it is to late for you, I'm sorry :rofl

I don't think anyone here would want to jeopardize your future income from this project. and if the plans are to much $$, I may have to wait to purchase, but you have a lot of time & thought in this, they're worth a bit I am sure.

10 lbs?!? Really? if I can afford it at all, even with the plans, I am in for a Body!

I would love to have a finished trailer, but my idea for it is a bit different yours. :evil
(must be my own form of the illness taking hold. :lol3 )

Really looking forward to your next updates.

I like the suspension on prototype 1 with the larger wheels for more off rough/gravel road capability. Any way you'll have different options on that?
