You guys feel the quake at 17.30? My family actually dived under the dining table here. I was having a shower & didn't even feel it- they ran in freaked out.
It wasn't all that far from here so I felt it pretty bloody strong, got shit down on the floor everywhere (I have a LOT of books) and the motorbike fell off it's stand but the house is fine. I just sat in my lazyboy gripping the sides and rode it out, was like a roller coaster.
An hour north of wellington, it was pretty strong. House rolled around, pool sloshed over. ktm ready to go if kids stranded in wgton. Anything left standing in Seddon?
SH1 is down to one lane south of Seddon, seems some big slips came down. Haven't heard any more than that apart from the usual reports of some phone/power/water lines going down.
Yea the wee XT was perfectly fine, it's not like the hand guards weren't scratched already, Back on it's wheels and tied to the fence now.
We got a bloody good shake in New Pymouth. I was in the shed working on the bike. I was wondering if it was going to fall over and was going to hang on to it when it stopped. Must have been a lot worse in Weelington :eek1
Hope my dam house is still standing in Blenheim... wonder if I should go for a drive.. Even worse hope the mill & lathe are still up right... not bolted down...
Weird rolling thing here in Dannevirke. Seemed to last for ages. Thought I was drunk, but Id only had 1. Mustve been pretty hard out closer to the real shebang.
Even felt it in Hamilton. I was lying down and the bed started to move around and all the household doors where swinging on thier hinges.
Anyone fancy a spin tomorrow Friday 16th Aug? Probably Wairarapa, possibly out to White Rocks. Weather tomorrow is still looking good. Saturday's crap, sunday dunno? PM me.
swine just about any other day and I could rearrange things and join you - but not this Friday I'm keen to wander (via the 'rapa ) up to Parongia (I know its spelt wrong) for a meal at the pub sometime soonish
I'm caught up with work tomorrow so I'm out. Don't give up on us slack bastards Steve. I can often get away in the week but at the moment I'm in the middle of a busy spell. Cheers Wayne
Steve, do you know something about earthquakes that the rest of us don't? The next time you organise a ride, I'll either come with you or stay away from Wellington for the day. By the way I'm loading trees into Shed 6 on the wharf next week so please stay at home and go into work as normal. Cheers Wayne
