2012 bought new in May, 6,700 miles so far.

Now that it's starting to get cold I'll be tearing into it soon to do the doo and the valves.

Just noticed this thread again so I figured I'd update my numbers...same 2009, lots of modifications, now over 52,000 miles

(Would have a lot more but I picked up an 08 KTM Adventure this past Feb and put 19,000 on it since then)

08' I bought July 2011 with 12000 miles on. As of today it is at 32900. Everything is great on the bike and I love it to death but I am thinking about getting a bigger bike for the long distance trips. I don't want anything to fail too far away from home.

I think the real question is...has anyone ever actually needed to rebuild one?!?

2001 model, well maintained but ridden hard, always dead reliable... the gearbox started getting crunchy on the 1-2 shift at about 30K miles and I was noticing metal flecks in the oil. Sold it at that point, so I don't know how many more miles it had left in it. Great bike, many good adventures!

'06 with 31k miles, 29k of which are mine. She's only failed to start and run once, and that was from the original battery taking a dump one winter.

    Biggest lesson learned:
I'd suggest going over the rear suspension sooner rather than later if you haven't already to rebuild/replace whatever necessary and grease it all properly. I didn't do this until about 2,000 miles ago and it was a pain just to get it apart since the pivot arm axle was pretty well corroded in place. I had to liberally tap it with a sledge hammer to get it out of the frame. Also, Loctite everything!

Favorite mods: Ricor IAS shock and Intiminators, Vapor dash, and the Thermobob.

The '03 now has 36k. Did the Schnitz 705 kit at 11k, really smoothed out the bike and woke it up a bit. No issues, does not burn oil.

Yeah, and he obviously needs advice from random people on the internet about oil changes since he is only getting 130k miles out of a KLR.

    He switched to synthetic.
You can go a lot longer between changes with synthetic.
