Just two days of filming left and then I'll start on making a longer comprehensive review of the bike, with comments on views from a number of riders including, Reeksy, Matt, Philippe, and some others of varying skills and ages.

Here is a video teaser showing the bike in action in some of the areas we tested her.

Last day of filming with the 690. Will be a little sad to send it back. That aside, now I've got to put the review together.

Sorry JTB, a little more teeze. I went out on my last day, determined not to film anything but to just have a great time with the bike.

Anyway, we did some pretty difficult single trail and I nearly flipped it.

    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/VXXbssK03cw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

It will take me a couple of weeks to complete the review as I want to make it a good one.

    Cheers,

    Dave

    Ladies and gentlemen,

I would like to introduce the first in a three part series on the KTM690. First stop handling. Then engine and other things. Then finish up asking the question, "Can the 690 make a great adventure mount?"

    Ladies and gentlemen,

Three weeks to go until I head off to London to hopefully ride one of these 690s back to Australia. My objective is to arrive back in Sydney on the 1 October, but as you know in 22 thousand k's anything can happen. Anyway I will do my best.

In light of my absence I will not be posting here for some months. However all is not lost.

We hope to post regularly on our ride reports thread, '12 countries and just practice.'

    http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=692338

I would imagine we will post some very short clips on this thread, but mainly photographs.

Further information about the ride can also be found on facebook at

Look forward to awakening this thread when I return.

Thanks for all the support. At times it's been challenging.

    Regards,

    Dave

One week to go before we leave London for Sydney. Here is a vid of our practice ride, '12 Countries and just practice" We are working on an hour version of this. It may work out to be 2 x 1 hour episodes. The riding is real different in Europe, but great fun. Adventure has more of a latte feel to it.

Mate that is one prepped bit of junk. Built by Mr Rally Raid Products himself, Mr John Mitchinson. Jeez I've learned a lot about these bikes. It was like standing next to a micro surgeon, explaining what he was doing and why. He even gave me a practical test on fuel injector removal and replacement. I got a pass. Nothing flash.

Soft luggage for us. And we are packing a lot lighter than what we did for this trip.

    Gentlemen,

Back in Australia after riding London to Singapore via Europe, Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China (Himalayas), Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia.

Bikes are currently being shipped to Darwin and we will finish with an unsupported crossing of the Simpson Desert, and possibly the Flinders Ranges. Anyway while waiting for the bikes, we thought we would have a peak at the video we took. Here is a sample.

Philippe and I took one of our mate's son's out today for a 150 ker with about 80 ks single trail. Some of the single was a challenge. Seth did pretty well I thought, for a kid not exposed to those types of challenges.
