is the 950se considered to be dual-sport?

i'm thinking riding the event, Sunday ride the opposite way (some of it)..

there are 2 routes.... dual sport route (regular route) and the adventure bike route.
the regular route has hard loops. you don't need to take the hard loops. this is just an option.

the adventure route has pavement and powerline roads with A LOT OF SAND.


take our advice... ride the EXC.

If I ride up from Bullhead I'll be on the bike
If I drive up to Vegas and ride over to Sandy Valley from there, I'll probably bring The 2 Smoker

Might be a stupid question, but for roll chart holders, is there any good reason to go top load versus side load? I know we can buy them at registration but I prefer to dial my bike in as much as possible before hand.

Hopefully this is not like a "best tire question"...

the MSR Countdown roll chart is the way to go.

On the GPS routes they download for us... are the ADV ways and Hard ways easily marked on the routes showing up? meaning can we just choose "dont show" the ADV routes?? does that question make sense?? lol

everything is color coded and marked on the trail. the ADV route is GPS ONLY. the regular route is GPS and roll chart. use them both. the roll chart gives you warnings and speed limits and instructions where as the GPS is a colored line going thru the desert. well, it's got waypoints as well, but the roll chart is there for a reason.
but I've said it before, I use my GPS 90% of the time and the roll chart is my back up I check it every few minutes. it's good to look at it especially at turns on the course and when you take a break.

out of any organized ride I've done, this one takes the cake.

the mileage is right on, the markers are visible, the roll chart has numbers next to them that coordinates with GPS.

it's a well oiled machine. going on now for 29 years.


when you get to Palmdale Supercycles bright and early on Friday, you get your bike inspected... they do a spark arrester poke, and stamp your hand.
park your bike and go inside WITH your GPS and go to the table for your rider packet. it's alphabetized. then go over to the GPS table and hand them your GPS adn they plug it into their computer and load your tracks. takes 30 seconds to load. BE SURE TO ERASE ALL PREVIOUS TRACKS ON YOUR GPS PRIOR TO THIS DAY.

I picked them up when I started CORE and bought much of Jim Pilon's TourNTrail inventory......I don't use rollcharts on my CORE Club rides (anymore) so I'm going to blow out what inventory I have left......

I'll sell'em for $25/rollchart holder including shipping (CONUS)......I'll take inventory and post what I have in stock.....

The roll chart is LOOOOOONG, best advise I got last year was to cut it in half at the lunch break, load up first half in morning and second half after lunch. Made the roller operation much easier. Points above regarding GPS are dead on, the route(s) are very clear and called out. It is easy to cross check GPS and roll chart at any given spot.

what is you plan for this year?
did u do d adv or duall-sport?

Most likely will follow the regular route and go around most of the "hard ways". Will be riding the GS again.
