One of my all-time favorites is the Hideaway Coehill.. Sas and Derek can only be topped in personality by sas's sister Simone who works there on occasion. Hold onto your hat!!
My Favourite thread revived! One of my perennial favourites, Marks Finer Diner, formerly of Fowlers Corners/Hwy 7 , has moved to 128 Landsdowne st E in Peterborough. Haven't had a chance to check it out yet. There's another place we stumbled across looking for breakfast early one Sunday morning. Unfortunately, I didn't catch the name, but it's in Stirling on Mill St., between James & North streets on the north side. It's a tiny little place ( half an old store front kind of thing). Open a 5:30 am ( farmers like their breakfast early). Maybe 4 or 5 tables, and pretty cheap too. Last night might my wife & I had dinner at a place in Newcastle called "The Snug". A tiny little Irish pub ( I think I counted 6 tables ). Chicken Pot pie, Guinness stew, Guinness Brownies for dessert even! Lots of good stuff on tap too.
Uncle George's Bakery & Dining 6269 Highway 28 GD, Woodview, ON K0L 3E0 Get directions 705-654-3661 This place is amazing!!! 3 course meal for under 20$ fine dining and homemade baking for peanuts! I got the best steak soup and salad for 19 dollars. The roaming rally was in this area and we stumbled in. very nice little spot. If anyone is even close to that area you NEED to check this one out! Wait staff was not hard on the eyes either! simply amazing... and i am a foodie... this place rocks!
A while back I posted about a bakery/café in Minden. I'm pleased to report the name is Molly's. The menu looks good and it's quite popular with many. My wife and I cycled there a bunch for morning coffee when we were in the area a couple of weeks ago. It's a fine mid way stop on a lap of the lake (Gull) by bicycle. Deep Bay road is fun. Popeye's in Falcon Lake Manitoba is another great little place we found this summer.
Don Cherry's is no more, but if you're riding to North Bay, you have to go to The Portage on Trout Lake (Peninsula Rd) anyway. It's worth the ride from anywhere. I was back in North Bay this summer for the first time since 09, and in the 3 days I was there I ate at The Portage twice.
I was there a couple of years ago, it was pretty decent I seem to recall. On a ride through there on a previous trip however, I got food poisoning from the restraunt down the street. Not a nice thing when you are riding.
Great little Diner Called the Box Social. Located in the main intersection just up the hill from all "The Gorge" action at 103 Geddes St. Brekky and lunch to 3:00pm. Sorry about my crummy little iPod pic but the food really is top shelf.
Just east of Ottawa in the town of St-Albert http://www.fromage-st-albert.com/eng/eng.htm they are building a brand new cheese factory.. some of the best cheese curds you can find on planet earth.
Only been the once but Brekky was 10/10. The Little Lady and I had a couple of omelettes and they were indeed excellente :dg And for the discerning among us, they will add onions to the homefries. Located on 3 just east of the four corners and on the north side in downtown Aylmer.
Mckecks Tap & Grill in Haliburton. They even have WiFi now. Pretty good food, make sure to try the Beef dip!
The Riverside, NW corner Hwy 35 and Monck Rd. Great menu of both eats and draught beers. Huge portions and the Rueben pic below is a half order. They serve breakfast too!
