I did some looking around. I was convinced this tag wass in my old neighborhood ( the U P) then I remembered where these statues are made so I went by but got sidetracked and ended @ Gingerman drinking beer. I admit it, I need a hint. @Depth How are you feeling bud?
The park is named for its benefactor who deeded the land to the city on the exact same day Bill Schoemaker, a jockey, won his first race aboard Shafter V in Albany, CA. GSA, I wish you wouldn't have gotten sidetracked. You may have been on to something.
I knew I've seen it, crazy that I was there on Sat and gave up bc I was fed up with traffic and people in general (reason why I ended having a beer). I know exactly where it is but won't make it there till Wed. So tag is open Man, the pic of your helmet shows how hard the impact was. Did your front wash out or did it bog in the mud and buckled you? Glad you are good, seems like you soldiered on and enjoyed the festivities. Which is good, you had the full Monty Adventure.
No mud to be seen. Started to go into hard packed rut from right, gave left input hoping to just cross through into center, front wheel did not climb rut, caught on left "ridge" and pulled bars full left. Momentum of bike moving right to left and refusal of wheel to climb out threw the bike down on left side... extremely violently I'm told. The guy on the XR, and Dannyboy both seemed to describe it as a convulsing rag doll flying a sprial through a dirt nebula several feet in the air. That's a lot cooler than how I remember it: Sky dirt Sky dirt Sky dirt Sky dirt Sky dirt flooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaating hit sky dirt sky dirt sky dirt fence. Gear does it's job! Didn't even know I hit my head until everyone started freaking out and asking about how many fingers they were holding up and if I was dizzy. No scratches either. Just really bad pain all on the left side from where I hit first. There's a lot to be said for a fighting spirit (and beer or two on top of the good stuff)
I agree, I'll be on a bike but not that way. The worst part is that I know exactly where it is, I drove by it Tuesday. I'll be there tomorrow for a meeting. I'll have to grab it and post before I get my -wait for this one- NEXT fuel strip. Record breaker: current one lasted 2 weeks I'm starting to think that the dealership likes me around, not that there's anything g wrong with that. But I'm not into that
Rich and I had a long conversation about your fuel strip woes at RTB (before I lost 30 IQ points) We seemed to have the same opinion: "Perhaps the fuel strip isn't the root of the problem" I voted that there is an electrical gremlin causing high resistance and heat in strip, and Rich said that you don't ever ride it so the ethanol has time to eat it. But who am I to judge, I wont be riding for what, at least another day or two You got any bubble wrap?
That could b the issue, don't know. I ride about 4 days a week. I'm under warranty so it's "free" but I still get to spend some "quality" time with Elvis jr, Marlin and the guys. Somewhere near two hrs of my life per strip. Listen, you need a lid? I got a Shark RSI w tinted visor that you can have. It's not new but in good shape. It's a med white black silver. matches your steed.I think I've seen your bike at D E across from the big mega Italian restaurant. I can drop it for you. Pm me if you are interested. Cheers
I've got a mega melon man. "RTB Cares" sent me a gift card toward a new one too Got one coming. Have my old "passenger" helmet here too. I'm likely down for a couple weeks minimum anyway. Sincerely appreciate the offer though.
That's so cool of RTB, rarely you find a bike club that take care of its members without having to do nasty things. Get better soon bud bc the boys from the west may strike any time and we need you to hold the line.
Thought it was at Williams Park But no. Then I went to Curtis Park, no. Now I'm late for my meeting This tag is elusive!
This was getting embarrassing, lived in that area for 6 yrs or so. I know I've seen them. Well it may just be a race against Simmons. Too bad I'm stuck at the dealership. Wonder if they would loan me a bike to go grab? I bet not since they know me
I was in a no parking zone in a crosswalk. That blur at the top of the pic is my visor - I was afraid a UP cop would come by and ticket me if I took too much time standing there. Great clue, Tom - how did you match up Caruth Park with Bill Schoemaker? I googled your exact words on the park and got it immediately (learned that from Depth and his "unique" words) but I didn't see anything about the jockey. Speaking of Depth, glad you're OK. Maybe someone will give you one of these - http://www.6dhelmets.com/#!atr-1-helmet/cktj Dirt Bike magazine Product of the Year.
