Bob, I consider myself a 'weekend yooper', but you probably wouldn't want anyone other than genuine yoopers on the list, eh?

In June, after potato planting, my brother Leo and I will ride from my back door here in Antigo up to Big Eric's Bridge or thereabouts, avoiding as much blacktop as possible.

Sorry...but that list is exclusively for "full time" Yoopers. :deal

But all you "weekend" Yooper wanna-be's are welcome to come on up, visit, spend your money, and go home! :lol3

Nice area to ride. I get up there once or twice a year at least. Rivers, falls, beaches, plenty of places to camp, and very few people.

Long haul from Antigo I'd think. Especially staying on dirt. :eek1

    Cheers,
    Dave

Yep. We are starting out Saturday morning from the Gladstone area, headed counterclockwise. Not sure what our pace will be, but should reach Marquette somewhere between Sunday and Tuesday :D

If you need a place to park a truck or trailers, I'm between Gladstone and Rapid River. I won't be here this weekend (I'll be in Madison WI) but can give you directions and there's plenty of parking space and it's right on the bay. Just let me know. Randy

Only if you promise to take good care of it.

Owning a dual sport is a big responsibility. If you don't take them off road regularly, they'll eat the furniture.

    Askel?

    Hmmmm...Askel?

Seems like there used to be a guy that hung around here with that name, but then he left to hang out with a bunch of guys that ride bicycles and wear spandex shorts.

    I'm corrupting them:

All diehard bicyclists. All on their first major dual sport ride on the continental divide last summer.

Now be quiet so you don't blow my cover. :lol3

We had an absolute blast in the UP! And I guess it was safe too, the only get-offs were at slow speeds...you sure have your fair share of sand up there! :D We might get around to a trip report, but my photos from the ride can be found HERE.

Wife and I will be riding a clockwise route around Lake Michigan next week on some of Cannontracks big bike routes. Always happy to link up with other riders along the way to get local info on the best roads, trails, pubs, eateries, attractions and campgrounds.

Sunday: Indy through Chicago along the coast to somewhere near Milwaukee
Monday: Door county all day until we find a campground
Tuesday: make our way to Munising for a sunset tour of the rocks
Wednesday: head East until we find a place to camp somewhere in the UP
Thursday: make our way to traverse city
Friday: South along the East coast of LM to West Olive
    Sat: Beach and libations

Let me know if your going to be in the area or have any reccomendations for spots not to miss along the way.

Almost 3 months have gone by(the only 3 months we can ride without snow in the forecast), and not a single post here...it sure is lonely in 'da UP.

I did a quick solo run up to Huron Bay and this past weekend. THE FALL COLORS ARE PRIME!!!

Unfortunately, my camera is about 10 years old, and the photos are all washed out....but I will share them anyway.

I headed north out of Marquette up county road 510. Looking at the old single lane bridge from the new bridge.

Up river towards the Dead River storage basin.

    Along 510.

(the astute viewer will note that these are afternoon shots and not morning shots....I was having too much fun on the way up to stop and take photos in the morning).

I then took Triple A road to the west for a couple of miles and then turned off on a secret road that follows the southern border of the Huron Mountain Club. Again, I was having way too much fun on this rocky/rutted trail, and did not stop for any photo's. Kicking myself now, but oh well.

The view of the Huron River from Big Eric's bridge.

Lake Superior beach at the mouth of the Huron River...what a beautiful spot.

Finally made it to Huron Bay...gotta come back some day and bring the Lund and do a bit of fishing.

Couple of random shots on the return trip.

A total round trip of just shy of 170 miles and about 6 hours. Another beautiful day in 'da UP!
