Tell Me About Your Alpina Tubeless Wheels

Does the 19/17" wheels change the bike as in the more planted feeling of the steering in the wobble of a 21" wheel on a big bike or the headshake does this go away or what would like to hear back on this?

A 19" front tire will quicken the steering and put a little more weight on the front tire which may reduce head shake. Make sure the rear suspension is stiffened up a bit too if you experience a little hands off head shake.

You should be able to eliminate head shake on the stock wheels via different tires and suspension settings. Try lowering the front an inch in the triple clamps too.

I own a 2012 990 R and I now have a set of Alpina 19/17s on my bike with Conti trail attack 2s in 110/80 and 150/70. I've also done the following in addition to the wheels and tires:
- 2012 standard 990 side stand (302mm)
- the speedo/odometer mod to adjust for the new overall tire circumference and calibrate my speed
- been riding the living shit out of it
- been embarrassing squids on sport bikes all over town around the corners
- been inundated with a lot of questions about the wheels from people who know enough to observe something "different"

What I've observed:
- incredible handling and confidence inspiring feel and feedback up front
- good gravel / hard-pack traction and stability
- need to adjust gearing - my bike came with a 16/42 gearing combo. I'm planning to raise the front to a 17 to get my gearing back to within 2% of what it was with the stock 21/18 wheels
- no need to change out the centre stand, it works just fine and not too much effort to raise the bike onto it

What I can confirm:
- I got the orange/black wheels on black KTM hubs with black double gauge spokes and orange/black nipples (very cool looking when in motion)
- wheels bolt right on using my stock rotors and Cush drive/sprocket. They come with bearings installed. No fuss, no problems
- they are truly tubeless, no sealing / silicone / seal strip rubbish to deal its and worry about
- they are the best modification I have ever spent money or time on. I don't regret one single thing about them
- did I mention the incredible handling???

Do it and buy the complete built set unless you have access to a reliable and experienced wheelsmithy - you will not regret it one single bit.

I should also add: zero head shake under all circumstances and situations but I didn't have any prior either...no, the steering has not become too sensitive or unstable as some have reported. I am running the standard "sport" settings of clicks on my suspension; again, no change from before with my 21/18 wheels.

What is the widest set of tyre's on Aplina 19/17 wheel combo that will work with the 990/950 adv please? Just curious might be looking into a road set of wheels for my 950 adv.
