When I looked at the bike back in '97. The dealer told me that they are special order and that they were available. But this is the same dealer that sold me 6 nuts 6 bolts for my sprocket for $28.13

Really is amazing how low the numbers are. I guess more than 2/3 of them are in the west.

That tire carrier style bag sure is an interesting concept, anyone ever actually seen one?

Anyone interested in compiling a regrestry? I really don't have the computer skills but would be glad to help.

It was a kick start only which I have converted to Elecric start.
EGS bottom end with an 80mm 660 Rallye crank.
The original top end including the Rallye head which are different to the stock LC4 head.

on the LC4 registry- how many others here have registered there? I just did...I don't what for but I felt compelled-

Surprisingly, although I've looked at it several times over the past few years, and I have it bookmarked, I've yet to register my bike.
I suppose there's lots of stuff I could put in there... I guess I'll have to do that, one of these days.

Aren't those some bad-assssssss bolts? I thought they were some kinda hard-asssssss hardware, and therefore expensive. creeper seemed to be pretty happy they were throwing in new hardware to mount the front rotor in the rim recall service.

It's a bit OT but since you brought it up, the original Dukes were all serialized on the triple clamp. I don't know about the import numbers but these were the WORLDWIDE production numbers on them (from my webpage on the Duke):

• 1993 100
• 1994 500
• 1995 500
• 1996 500
• 1997 500
• 1998 400

Total: 2500 Dukes worldwide

I don't know how many Adventures were made worldwide but the numbers may be similar. Anybody else got access to these kinds of stats?

That tire toting side case has merit, but it looks like you'd have to take the tire(s) off to get into it. Not very practical. Very cool and hell of a concept, but that's probably why they never sold them????

Great write up.. too bad there ain't as much love going around for the more recent 640 Adventures.. but it's still all good. Nice knowing the history of my bike. Got a buddy who said he wants a 640 Adv now.. (talked him out of a Harley--at least for now) I just need to get him off his lazy _ss and break out his checkbook.

Ive a 97 with clear on the fork boots ive been restoring.. Today im replacing seals and fuel lines and re jetting...

I don't know if that's true. I would have had no idea of the 620's rarity if I had not attended the Ouray KTM Rally. I just don't think anybody has written up a similar bit about the later models. Most of it is probably in the (bleep)ing index but needs to be collected.

I now know there are details of all the mechanical, engine changes in there. Maybe more on the chassis and plastics? Exhausts? I'm not the guy "in the know" since I have a 97 and 99. Dr. Creeper has been too busy doing his post-graduate work on Zen and the Art of LC4 Maintenance. Anybody want to step up?

VERY cool Where did you get the slip-on exhaust? Did you fit the tanks? What mods did you need to make them fit? The subframe looks stock. Last 4 digits from your VIN (so we can add you to the owner's registry)?

Hey ScarrJaw, is that a Husky lower chain guide?

And, hope I am not dredging too deeply, but did you buddy every try to make the tank guards?
