First off, let me say that Northern NY sucks! You'll see why in the pictures... First off look at how overcrowded it is, I mean seriously, look how close my neighbors are. Heading down the road there is just nothing whatsoever to look at. And the traffic, don't even get me started on how bad it is up here! At least there is no smog I guess.... Back to the traffic.... Visibility is only so-so at best... Putting a few miles on tonight.... See what I mean about marginal visibility? I think there is A car up there? And all those buildings blocking out the skyline, sheesh! Been out on the road no more than an hour and the sun is setting, darn short days.... DE PLANE BOSS DE PLANE!!!! Even the clouds are funky up here Sun is still working its way down Who said KLX mirrors don't vibrate?! Intense focus...... Put the stock overdrive sprocket back on a few weeks back Still focused.... Not much to focus on though..... Hey look, a radiator shroud.... And thats all folks, just a 30 mile trip around my neighborhood
it sucks to be you riding that lovely KLX250 that I've been lusting over... and no cars at all.... and wide open spaces... it must be tough!! thanks for sharing your ride in your 'hood
I'm a half hour from the border, if you wanted to meet up and take a test ride, lemme know. Kinda curious about its big brother the KLR myself....
Lately we haven't even been getting snow till January. Dec. 24 2006 it was 45 degrees out. Rode to my (ex-now) GF's X-mas party with the jacket vents open and spent the afternoon outside with just a long sleeve shirt and jeans on. What trails there are that are open up here stay snow covered for a long time due to the tree canopy. And even after the snow is gone you get to find the occasional ice patch......exciting at times...
Looks a bit like Vermont, only flatter. And it actually has a horizon! I'm so used to being able to see no farther than the hill across the valley that horizons like yours fascinate me! Yeah, it gets a bit white up here. Cold, too. 70F yesterday. In four months our high will likely be 90 degrees cooler than that. Keeps the riff raff from settling here.
Beautiful pics. The 'REAL' NY is just this side of heaven. There is only one problem.......taxes.....taxes.......taxes......taxes......Oh yeah,,,,did I say Hillary? I envy your "neighborhood"....it is beautiful thanks for the looksee.
As far as deer go, I saw 6 but they were too far off the road for pics, same for the buffalo farm, just dark blobs in the pictures. I did have a deer race me down a dirt road then do a crazy flying kick maneuver as it shot across in front of me earlier in the day. I should head to the Adirondacks when fall is really in swing, the mix of plains with mountains makes for some great views. I'm about 45 minutes or so from the Adirondack park area.
Reminds of home. I grew up in Oswego with the shore of Lake Ontario as my back yard, where abouts are you lacated?
I'm a few hours North of there. Near Potsdam, Massena, and the ST. Lawrence Seaway. Half hour from Cornwall, Ontario.
Ahh yes that a very nice area up there. A family who own's a camp in the Adirondak's next to ours are from Postdam. He was the GYM teacher there for many years.
This is a great state, no doubt about it. Thanks for bumping this thread. I went to college in Oswego and I loved it. I think it's about that time for another ride to Oswego. :)
BUMP for a fellow 315'er! I grew up in Watertown and cut my teeth riding the trails of the North Country! When I turned 18, I moved to Hawaii...but I have lots of memories of snowy days. Thanks for the memories!
What the eff is "Northern NY"? That doesn't look like the 'Daks to me. My guess is that you were in Central NY.. maybe the Finger lakes region? Anyway.. beautiful pics. Reminds me of home.
