I mounted them in place of the OEM foglights. You can see one in the photo. With a sidecar mounted to the bike, if I have a fall there will be more important things to worry about than a broken light. :lol3

Yeah, Rusty does a very good worried look. Though only a short distance rider (Barley is my long distance companion), he loves rides in anything with an engine and likes to rest in the hack while I'm working on it. Since it's up on jacks he can't jump in without scratching the paint, which he knows is a bad thing.

The challenge of working on the rig with my four golden retrievers present is that it's really difficult to do any work underneath it. Every time I crawl underneath to inspect or do any work there are four furry heads in the way, each trying to see what's so exciting. And if I tell them to leave me alone, they do what retrievers do...each one brings me one item at a time out of my toolbox until it's empty and I'm surrounded by every tool I own, and four proud goldens wagging happily at being able to "help" me! :becca

Phil, Rusty looks quite concerned that you're so easily distracted by the computer when you should be working!:D

To address Macadamia inquiry, when I busted my OEM fog light in a sand wash in Big Bend, I came up with a solution for mounting my new HID auxiliary lamps by using PIAA bar mounts. Last summer, I stopped by Glenn Stasky's Clearwater with the intent of purchasing his Glenda lamps. Glenn showed and demonstrated those lamps and the Kristas. I purchased the Kristas on the spot. He told me I could use the PIAA mounts but I just had to reverse them:

I've used these lights for several months and have put around 4000-5000 miles on the bike since then . . . no problems.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll talk to the dealership about swapping it out. Do you really think it needs one with less than 3k miles on a 2012 and it has been on a TecMate TM-245 OptiMate 4 Dual Program CAN-bus Edition Battery Charger since the end of October.

Which battery would you suggest? I'd like to stay with a battery that I can utilize the above charger.

No, I put in a new battery today on my GS.

However, since you asked, yes, it is entirely possible that the BMW battery only lasted 3 months. The factory battery does not have a good reputation!

PS The battery in my bike was replaced 1 year ago. :deal

This setting looks very familiar, isn't there a picnic table at this location? Coming off this spot onto the road, turning right there is some gravel and the roads circles downward?

No, I just checked my picture galaxy, the spot I am referring to has a rope fence around the place.

Hiyas, Montauk....that was taken in a "turnout" in an area referred to as "The Steps" on the Angeles Crest HWY. I was headed north on the road, the turnout was on the right and the view is of the San Gabriels. There are ranger stations and campgrounds/picnic areas along HWY 2 but this was not one of those.
