Okay so I don't have a picture, but I am trying to figure out the name of a rubber "gasket" in the front cover of my R90/6 If you take off the front cover of the bike, down below there is a rubber gasket that I would assume would go where the points were. I have electronic ignition, so I a not sure. It tucks into a little groove Mine is completely falling apart and I wanted to get a new one. Does any one have any idea what it is called? It is not perfectly round and seems to be not connected to itself if that makes sense. Maybe mine just fell apart. Sorry I seem to be at a loss for describing things today.
I just replaced one of those points gaskets and Boxers by Bruce sells it by the foot. Much cheaper. After doing so I was changing the oil on my wife’s van and when I took of the Wix oil filter the rubber gasket looked just like the one I bought for the points, square and all. Havent had the chance to pull the cover off of the bike and see if that one would work. It looks like its 3mm by 2mm in the pict and description. If it does fit, it will be a good recycling option...
That is a silly price. I ran without one for years and never had an issue. Make sure the point wire rubber is in good shape and seats well. My buddy had his bike sitting in the rain and the points filled with water. The opoint wire boot let the water in and the gasket did not let it out.

Just so you all know, that description is incorrect. the 3.2mm is only for 1970-1975 models, when BMW changed the chain cover in 76, the size of that seal increased to 4.2mm the part number for 76-78 is 11 14 1 262 644. robert Robert
They recommend when you install the Dyna III ignition to drill a hole to let out the water in the bottom of the cover...I did so, believe it would be wise to do for points ignition also...
