Belated condolences for your loss. This is my biggest fear on the bike. You can have the best training, the best bike, the best protective gear and the fastest reflexes and still be done in by the dreaded "left hook".
Im very, very sorry to hear of your loss. Aweful news. If you are ever in south carolina, please let me know; id love to meet up with you. We can go to lunch, my treat.
Peaceful wishes to you Devin. See all the legal stuff through to its conclusion, then put it behind you and focus on the good memories. Enjoy your ride with your brother. Regards, --R66
Not a Bible thumper, but two verses jumped into my mind: Ecc 9:11 "chance happeneth to all men" Rom 8:28 "all things work together for the good" These two have gotten me through some bad times, cancer, injuries, etc... Looking back years later, I can see the good that eluded me during those bad times. Take the time to make that trip and remember your dad.
As I'm working on the bike..getting her ready for summer..my deepest sympathies, Hope and Prayers are for you and your family.
Until they start caring more about saving lives and less about these old fool's feelings and get them off the road, these things will continue to happen. Some old fart's pride shouldn't be more important than a life.
I just hope someone is caring enough when I am an old fart to tell me its time to stop driving. In my opinion she is no better than a drunk driver, and they too seem to get a slap on the wrist.
Your dad was the same age as I am. Hits too close to home. I feel some of your loss too. A bit late I guess but Godspeed to your dad, and I am sure somehow he will be with you on your rides. Best wishes Rod
I am reading old threads but see this one has recent replies. First, I am sorry for your loss. I am almost 60 and I do hope that someone (my wife or my son) will tell me when it is time to stop driving. I don't want to hurt someone else through my actions. I had a good friend hit and killed (co-riding with her boyfrend) a couple of years ago. They were hit from behind by a drunk while stopped at a light. He is in prison as I write this but his being in prison won't bring her back. He had multiple convictions for drunk driving and didn't have a drivers license because of his DUI's. He has expressed no remorse over killing her and paralyzing her boyfriend. If there is a hell, I hope he rots in it. I do hope that this woman eventually sees what she has done and what she could do in the future and stop driving. I also hope that you get this resolved it the courts soon and can start putting this behind you.
I plan on giving up the cage and riding the Ural as long as I have breath when I retire, so if I do something stupid as an old fart I'll only be killing one old man. And whoever is foolish enough to get in teh sidecar with me.
