Watching the NW200 and the MotoGP races this weekend made me lust after a superbike even more. I love watching those guys ride! Definitely getting one next summer.

When you're riding it, you don't have to look at it.

Ride it real fast, and nobody else does, either.

took this bike out for a test ride today. Wow! Loved the engine, smooth tractable power all the way from the bottom, wonderful noise. I could almost get over those ugly looks and the uncomfortable tank.

I had a basic rider student last year who, half way through Sunday, said "I should probably plan on leaving my bike in 'Rain Mode' for like, a couple years, huh?" :huh "Rain Mode?"

Yeah. He'd never ridden a motorcycle, and somehow thought a Panigale R would be a good first bike. :eek1

So... yeah. I told him Rain Mode would be perfect. After a couple thousand miles on a DR200 or something similar.

My first fast bike experience was on an '87 GSXR-1100 that had been breathed on. A friend's younger brother had ridden it to Kansas from California for a visit, then got caught with a suspended license in Kansas and had to leave the bike behind when he went home. Anyway, I was getting on I-135 southbound and was rolling up the ramp at 50 when I grabbed a handful of throttle. Next thing I knew, I was all the way in the left lane, steering right to avoid the wall, and when I was straightened up I glanced down to see 100 on the speedo. I took it back to the house and never rode it again.

Fortunately, at 6'4" and almost 60 I can't fit on a litre bike. I finally succumbed to buying a faster bike in 2008 and bought a K1200GT. It is deadly smooth and quiet and I figured out why they put Cruise in the bike after one road trip . It is to control the 16 year old who starts the bike in Vancouver and leaves for the East Coast.

    137 {GPS indicated} seems like 75.

We were on the fence which older high mileage bike to ship to Europe and I am glad we sent the 990 ADV. The GT on the Autobahn would be just stupid, I run 140-160 on the 990. I can't fathom how fast i would be riding the GT just because I could.

Litre bike scare me because I remain smart enough to know I could be stupid, very stupid on one.

    You'd be going 267.15 km/h (166m/h).

    Because you could. :norton

Why does everyone forget the control on the right grip goes two directions? It really is that easy.

    Did I mention I have a pillion ?

I think my wife would begin the serious intercom discussion at 200 KM and the marital privileges discussion would begin (or cease) at 220 :lol3

Lol!! Here's my adrenaline machine. And yes, it's just crazy how quick/fast these things are. I'm glad I didn't have this when I was in my 20s!
