New Luggage (Bumot panniers)

I have a long ride coming up this summer and have been in the market for luggage to replace my current system cases. I have used Happytrails, Jesse, BMW Adv cases and BMW system cases in the past, but I wanted to try something different this time. I decided on Bumot luggage from Rick at XPlormoto in Arizona. After talking with Rick a few times and looking at the pictures a 1,000 times, I placed my order. The boxes were delivered five days later.

It took me a few days to find the time to mount the cases, but I finally got around to it this past Sunday. The installation is straight forward and not too time consuming. The set comes with 2 brackets in order to relocate the turn signals further back. I think the boxes would fit without relocating them, but I don't like the idea of signals being blocked behind the boxes. Here are a few pics from the installation and the finished product.





















I chose the optional 7 liter tool box that mounts on the inside, of the right side mounting bracket. The charcoal canister either needs to be removed or relocated to mount the box. I have not decided which route to take on this issue. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.






I plan on a full write-up of the luggage after I complete my AK trip this summer. 13,000 miles round trip from GA to Deadhorse should be a good test. I can't wait.

Good looking set. The mounts look pretty substantial. From the XPlorer web site looks like the cost is less than a comparable size Jesse. $1150 is what I paid for my Odyssey 1's in 2005.

They look heavy duty. We went to Fairbanks and I went to Deadhorse last year.
Bring as little as you can get away with. Too much crap turns your nimble GS into a class A RV with more potential for your FD to quit.

Check this guy out if you need tires. I started with fresh Tourances in ATL and bought a new rear from him after Deadhorse.

As far as the crap goes. We are considering leaving the non essentials in Fairbanks, to lighten the load. How did the Tourances do ? I was thinking of getting a new rear, TKC,in Fairbanks, before Deadhorse.

How they do that with the exhaust? Is one pannier smaller?


EDIT: Oh wait I see. They are even because of the tool box space on right. How wide is the whole shebang outside box to outside box?

I'm gonna guess 38-40". I do like this setup with the toolbox.

I will get a measurement tomorrow. I also plan to remove the charcoal filter and mount the toolbox. I will post pictures once completed.

Hmmm...just lookin' at that nice installation and wondering if that TOOL BOX might also make a nice secure home for a 1-gallon RotoPax? You never know when you'll need BOTH TOOLS and a little extra FUEL!

Boxes are 40 1/4 inches wide.

LPL, i checked the dimensions. Rotopax wont fit. Good idea though.

Liner Dimensions

Very nice and quite durable in appearance. They certainly are large enuf to fit everything you want and more. Seems like they should come complete with a higher spring rate shock!!!! You'll probably need that extra fuel tank with all that extra weight and surface area!

How are the Bumot's doing? Which size I they? I see you did measurments but are they the 45 liter? I've been looking at several different systems and I really like the Bumot's. I was happy to find this post because I have the identical bike.
