Thanks! Due to all the extra emissions crap on the TDI I'd have to get the ECU reprogrammed by a tuner after removing all the other stuff in order to keep it running right. Just adding an O2 sensor would be nice.

I was more concerned with how thorough they'd be (then I remembered how they do the gasoline emissions check...just check for codes like you said) and worried that for some reason they'd notice the missing cat. I tend to be a worst case scenario kinda guy when it comes to bureaucracy. With my luck I'd somehow get flagged and have to replace everything :lol3

    Nice!

Shit! :cry Good luck with the rebuild. That's another thing that worries me about stepping up the output of the VW. I don't think that the modest gains I'd see would do anything that drastic, but I still wonder about long term reliability.

If you are talking about driveline failures most of those come from actually putting the power to the ground like J4S is doing with sticky tires. So if you are just spinning the tires then the chance of breakage is greatly diminished.

No hibachi at this location. They apparently didn't have the space for the grills in this restaurant. The building has housed many culinary attempts. It started out many years ago as a Perkins.

    Lakota--

Never did finish the conversation, but I think you should look at a used DR200. They are dirt cheap to fix, light enough to pick up when they fall, and when she is done learning on the dirt it is street legal.

Used market is $1400-1800 with extremely low mileage. They are a bit of hens tooth to find, but definitely out there.

Transmission is back in the car. Trying to figure out why it won't shift out of first gear. Transmission experts in NJ seem to think its a dead TCU. Gonna try to flash the TCU tomorrow afternoon. If that doesn't work then its gotta go to the dealer.

Got to take Mrs. J4S car to the AutoX on Saturday. :D What a blast. Super heavy front end, so lots of under steer but was able to just throttle out of it with the all wheel drive.
