Just starting to plan out a ride in South Africa. We want to end up in Cape Town, starting in Pretoria sounds reasonable. We have 2 plus weeks in country and friend at the end of the line.
Looked at several tour companies that have self guided options. I would like to find a GSA but a GS would do. Nothing will match my re-mapped, Ohlins equipped 2011 GS but such is life.
I have looked at SAMA Tours and Due South. Anyone have experience with these companies. Are there others to consider.

Its hard to sort out without a reference or recommendation.

    Thanks

The web sites were very helpful. I found Dual Sport Adventure Rentals through your links. Had a good chat with the owner and it looks like we can create a route that will work.
    Thanks again.

When in Hermanus, Western Cape, give me a pm and maybe we can meet so that I can show you some nice places in the area

    hey man.
i live in Johannesburg and id like to meet up with you if you are keen.
you should definately have a look at Hazyview. not too much gravel but its one of my fav places to go riding in the whole of South Africa.
Lesotho should also be considered. Kutsi dam is a destination that can really leave a mark on the whole trip.
message me if you are interested in a few more destinations.

Hi. Looking at two alternatives for bike rental in Cape Town. Do you know either GS Africa or Dual Sport Africa?

Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, monitor Wilddogz, will ya? :lol3

They are a good group of riders and they will point you in the right direction. Without them, my RSA/Botswana/Zimbabwe/Mozambique/Zambia/Namibia trip would not have been possible. Three thumbs up.

I know these guys and have rented motorbikes from them twice - each time for a month. The first time I had a BMW1200GSADV and the second time a Yamaha Tenere 660. Both bikes never missed a beat in 9,000 miles total. I can recommend them.
With the first rental I picked up and dropped off the BMW in Boksburg (about 5km from Johannesburg Airport and only about 70km from Pretoria), but on the second occasion I picked up the Tenere in Cape Town and dropped off in Boksburg.
My trips were in February 2010 and September 2011 and they are recorded at http://www.motofile.blogspot.com
I hope that this helps. When are you going?
    All the best,
    jet
