Will they re-set the start order as the race progresses?

Do well in the first special stage of 60km. I would think that you don't want to start just in front of the trucks.

"The seaside resort of Mar del Plata brings to mind lazing around, especially after the competitors have mingled with the crowd during the public presentation ceremony on 31st December. For the short warm-up special stage, they will nevertheless be allowed to pass by the seafront, where the small dunes to be crossed will represent the first hurdle. In this simple exercise, the fastest time will establish a first winner and determine each competitor’s position in the rankings. After this challenge, there will be a long liaison section to be covered to Santa Rosa de la Pampa."

After this special, throw in a pair of street tires and hit the 796km liaison. Talk about a sore butt!

First stage is just a 60km long dune crossing, so start order and cars coming from back will not be really an issue.

Probable best dakar start in Southamerica, no problem with dust and overtaking!!

Ah, my first post here after two dakars of following you with the "hot F5 button".

In order to document all of Bill's supporters around the world, we are holding a little competition (for pride) to see who can best use their imagination and take a picture of themselves/pet/child/bike wearing a shirt/decal/patch that you purchased from the BC2Dakar schwag store on his website: www.bc2dakar.com

Of course you won't be nearly as cute as my niece and nephews, but please feel free to try. You can post to this thread here or email me your photo to jmc505@me.com!

I will post all of them to his website as they come in!

Ok, finally a little time to update the bike build. Since spy shots of the skid plate surfaced may as well go public. The details are at www.bc2dakar.com with plenty of pictures.

Here is a picture of the skid plate attached to the bike

SMIB's going to Dakar! Thanks to everyone who contributed to my Dakar effort. I have been working hard putting together a good rally bike and training. I'll post some pictures of the bike and the SMIB sticker once it is done.

    Thanks again!

The bike's coming along great Bill! I enjoyed visiting, messing with the beast, and generally getting in the way at the fab. shop yesterday.

The HP2 is proud to be sporting the BC2DAKAR sticker! :D
